== Introduction ==

My third lesson guys and I hope it helps you. Well, I started only three years ago and am still in the process of learning some stuff. In the beginning, I would log on to ULTIMATE GUITAR and the tabs would be like Greek to me. Then, I figured them out and then, those weird letters and signs in the middle would seem a little crazy. So, I think we should start with how basic stuff is usually shown on tabs.

== Usual markings in tabs ==

Slide up: /
Slide down: \
Hammer on: h
Pull off: p
Let ring: ~
Bend: b
Tapping: T
Palm muting: P.M
Muted strings: x

== Let's Get Started ==

OK, Try this:

e----------------------------------------|
B----------------------------------------|
G-------------------------5--7-8-7-------|
D---------5-7-5-----5--7------------5-7--|
A----5--7--------7-----------------------|
E-8--------------------------------------|

I'm not saying that this sounds bad. But, sometimes your playing hand tends to get worked up at parts like the (5-7-5) or (7-8-7) ones which are slightly faster than the usual speed. This tends to limit your playing speed. But, using a combination of techniques here, could help.

Try this:

e----------------------------------------|
B----------------------------------------|
G-------------------------5--7h8p7-------|
D---------5h7p5-----5--7------------5/7--|
A----5--7--------7-----------------------|
E-8--------------------------------------|

That should help you a bit. It eases the fast (5-7-5) and (7-8-7) part and also gives a slightly different feel to the (5-7) part in the end by adding a slide. This should prove how using a combination of techniques help your guitar playing.

== Few other exercises to help ==
