Michael Romeo Tapping Patterns
Hello guys, I'm Johnny Andrew and this is a lesson on the different patterns of tapping arpeggios that Michael Romeo uses! I've also included a video of me playing these kinds of arpeggios, so you can listen their unique sounds!

So, to begin with, these kind of arpeggios are 4-note chords, meaning that they contain the 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th of the chord. Also they are 3-note per string patterns, begin from the root on the 5th string and end up on the root on the 1st string. The first note on each string is hammered on from nowhere with the first finger!

In normal sounding scales, that is major and natural/harmonic/melodic minor, the 7th chords you may find, are:
  • maj7: contains major 3rd, perfect 5th, major 7th
  • dom7: contains major 3rd, perfect 5th, minor 7th
  • m7: contains minor 3rd, perfect 5th, minor 7th
  • m/maj7: contains minor 3rd, perfect 5th, major 7th
  • 7b5: contains minor 3rd, diminished 5th, minor 7th
  • dim7: contains minor 3rd, diminished 5th, diminished 7th
  • aug7: contains major 3rd, augmented 5th, major 7th
Well, these are the chord patterns we are going to see! You can always sound more weird, but that is your choice... hahah
