Not quite sure what he means by an "oval" motion...

awesomo41894 :
I mean don't go straight down with the pick, go in a motion where the pick is almost drawing an oval on the guitar strings.

nice lesson, but you start out sweep picking with 6 string arrpegios, anyone who's just starting with sweep picking will usually have to start with 3 or even 2 strings, but otherwise it was good.

Yeah, maybe, but I found the bigger sweep arpeggios easier to learn.

well, i find the big sweeps easy but when i see a new one i need to practice it alot to make it sound clean(also i dont havemy electric guitar with me right now, im practicing on my steel string acoustic that makes it slightly harder)

Glad it helped you.

I'm really new to sweeping, and I've only succesfully played this 3-string thing I invented, and it sounds so KEWL and FAST that I can't WAIT until I advance enought to get to try those long ones you have there.
See you soon! >
This is so exciting! Well, time to practice more. The skin in my fingers is already starting to fall off, and it hurts like hell.
But the COOLNESS in it's purest form motivates me!

Dregen :
The oval thing you mention works really really well for large sweeps. It keeps my hand more accurate and relaxed.

For those who don't understand what he means, just go and watch your favorite sweep picker, because they probably do use mentioned technique.

sorry, no originality for the last lesson name. "no limits" clearly stolen from Michael Angelo Batio "no boundaries" yah? no? lol i thought so

Good Lesson tho

Economy picking is key as well. It is sweep picking across 2 strings, then picking normally(alternate). It combines sweep picking with alternate/speed/whathaveyou picking.

Thanks for the information :
I am new to sweep picking and have a question for anyone: In the first sweep picking exercise, do you use your middle finger (long one)for both the "14"s when going up and down??

Well, when I play it I fret the 12 with my index, hit the 15 with my pinkie, the two 14's with my ring finger, the 13 with my middle, the 12 with my index, 17 with my pinkie, and then back down with the same fingering.

this is the one of the worst lessons i've ever seen. not only is sweeping picking one of the easiest and most overrated "advanced" techniques, but you fail to hit some of the more important parts of it, such as: playing them cleanly, finger rolling techniques, sweep shapes, and applications! It is clear that this "lesson" was written by a 16 year old "shredder" that learned sweeping yesterday and wants to show the world how fast he can play them! Nice try, but no cigar.

Yeah, it took me quite a while before I was really good at alternate picking, just keep practicing.
