I've had this guitar for a while now. It has survived several gigs, getting banged into various objects, numerous weather changes, and countless hours of blistering solos and it still rocks! The only thing I have ever had problems with was the fact that it has a tendency to go out of tune a little more frequently than most guitars. I also plan to change the pickups to maybe some SDs, but even the standard humbuckers are better than some epiphones I've played. My friends all say that it is a sweet guitar and keep saying they wanna buy it off of me. This guitar has been through thick and thin with me, I would recommend this guitar to pretty much anybody. This guitar is frikkin workhorse!!!
POSTED: 03/02/2007 05:12am

I agree. The jr. was heavier than the VX. Thats what i traded in plus money to get this. I got the '07 metallic red VX. I kinda have to disagree on the pickups. You can get good sound if youre playing stuff like megadeth.
POSTED: 10/20/2007 12:05am

agreed, the guitar has nothing to due with loudness, unless the volume nobs are broke and stuck, other wise its the amp or the sound tech is deaf
POSTED: 11/02/2007 11:13pm

my brother got this (black) a few months ago and it sounds as good as the "expensive" guitars at guitar center that he plays eveytime we go in there i think he paid $200 well worth the money. the only thing he's doing is switching the pickups. emg i think. but the stock ones are fine

i'll second that. Its the first wise comment I see.
Anyway this guitar isnt suited for intermediate players and the pickups lack bright and output. This thing cant stay in tune while on 2 steps down and lower, even with proper set up, so forget about the slipknot stuff + is noisy with high distortions like the boss metalcore or metal muff. the string tension also tends to be a litlle stiff.
POSTED: 05/12/2009 12:24pm

Ive had this guitar for a couple months now and its a pretty solid axe. I see alot of people saying its not good for metal but thats because your probably playing through a spyder 2 or an mg. If you cant get a good metal sound out of this guitar then you evidently cant EQ worth a shit. The pickups arent the best n the world but they sound pretty damn good for stock pups.

The neck feels amazing. A little thicker than I'm used to (Ibanez wizard II) but its very comfortable. The body, being basswood, is pretty light and the whole guitar is very well balanced.

I got this guitar from a guy i work with for $75 and thats a steal. All I had to do was make a couple solders because his kid took it apart and it was ready to go.

All in all this is a good guitar and i would give it a 7. I would gig with it as a switchout because my Ibanez RG4EXQM1 steals the show, but its still a great guitar.

My advice to someone thinking about getting one = go to guitar center, play it and form your own opinion.
POSTED: 09/24/2009 12:57am
