i dont often think of ESP as a bass company, although i must say it is a nice looking bass. i wouldnt mind owning a bass with this body, but id prefer higher end quality first. good, farily honest reveiw tho.
POSTED: 10/23/2006 12:23pm

" It sustains as long as my friends PRS guitar (which cost $2500)."

I find that part very amusing, basses have a lot more sustain than most guitars, especially the D and G strings.
POSTED: 10/23/2006 03:33pm

Basses have thicker strings, which allow greater sustain, MESA. That's why the low E sounds longer than the high e string, for example. But that's besides the point. This bass looks very nice. I think if I was going to go shopping for a bass guitar for this kind of price range, I would definitely look take a close look at this one after seeing this review. It would have helped if you said what kind of amp you played it through, however. My theory is that even a Squire could sound better than a Gibson, if the Squire was through a high-end setup, and the Gibson was through crappy equipment.
POSTED: 10/23/2006 05:48pm

does it not mean that the emg hz's are part of the esp sb-4 pickup set.as inn instead of having to say all the shite in every review, esp sb-4 covers the whole pickup set.to be honest thats a while guess seeing as im not the biggest pickup pro in the world.
POSTED: 04/22/2008 10:35pm

i bought an F-204 which was the older model of this bass, that came with EMG-HZ's. i enquired when i bought it and the bloke at my store said the differences between the 204 and 254 was the change from a bolt-on neck to neck-through-body and ESP SB-4's, but they didn't have a 254 for me to check out so i'm not certain.
EMGs are better imo for what its worth
POSTED: 04/28/2009 03:44am
