Yes he is. They're touring, and will be writing again in the forseeable future.

He's a damn good singer, suits the styles of Knot and Stone Sour, but I dunno about VR. Corey's voice is a bit to hard edge, they need showy people like Weiland was. Myles Kennedy and Scott Stapp would be the style of vocals best suited.

I think they fit the description that VR has given quite perfectly. I also think that they both would fit quite well into a band like Velvet Revolver.

I just have a feeling...

I like Corey Taylor though.

Actually, Franky Perez sang for SoB for a while. Daron left for some reason that was never really explained.

So Franky Perez was the lead singer for some shows with SoB.

wow, I didn't know that. thats pretty bizarre since he wrote and played everything. he was 90% of the band, and it was always known as his band after SOAD. sounds like contract issues then. or smething. either way I always thought the album was a huge dissapointment, especially considering how talented Daron was in SOAD, both w/ guitars and interesting melody. SOB were very chord/chord/chord/ verse/chorus/verse/chorus/bridge/chorus

Yeah, supposedly, Daron's heart just wasn't into touring(according to wiki). Almost all of their original tour dates actually got canceled if I remember correctly. I remember people on SoB's official website being really, really, pissed when they made the announcement that the had canceled most of the tour.

But Dolmayan and Perez got together with two other guys, and played at some US army bases in Iraq as Scars on Broadway. They mostly played covers, though.

Now Daron is back, but there hasn't been any news on a new album yet. They have released a new song called FUCKING, though.

Anyways, sorry to everyone else for writing a ****ing essay about Scars on Broadway in a Velvet Revolver article...I got a bit carried away.

Yes he is. They're touring, and will be writing again in the forseeable future.

He's a damn good singer, suits the styles of Knot and Stone Sour, but I dunno about VR. Corey's voice is a bit to hard edge, they need showy people like Weiland was. Myles Kennedy and Scott Stapp would be the style of vocals best suited.

While I do believe that Weiland, Kennedy, and Stapp's voice is more suited to VR's style (not really Stapp, but better fit than Taylor)...I know for a fact that Slipknot is finishing their European tour, and that any talk of an American tour is just speculative, and that writing in Slipknot has been put on hold permanently, so no, effectively he's not doing Slipknot for right now.

I do not think they will be writing again for quite some time, and Corey has confirmed this via interview.

On the opinion of fit, I'm actually more of a fan of Eric Dover, who worked with the Snakepit. Taylor is a badass singer, but his voice isn't really suited for VR imo.

^ And I agree with this guy, Corey is a extremely average vocalist. There's nothing about his style that's over the top and would make people look at him like he's above the pack. He's in the middle of the pack like most vocalists, but he just happens to be in 2, now maybe 3, very popular bands so he gets more recognition. His fans are so loyal to him that they'll just eat up anything this guy does.

Anyway, like I said before, Corey probably wouldn't join VR. If so, it would more than likely mean the end of either Slipknot or Stone Sour. One or the other, most likely Slipknot since Corey has expressed he'd rather not continue Slipknot without the late Paul Gray, but we'll see.

All of those bands have had their fair share of success and fame. Saying there's no market for female vocalists is just being completely ignorant.

People deal with the loss of friends and family in different ways. Who are you to judge how he should deal with it? Remember that Paul Gray was one of the main writers in Slipknot so it would be hard to adjust to it. Also consider this, Metallica when Cliff died where in their mid-20's and may not have fully realized the impact of it due to their excessive drinking which hid the pain. Corey Taylor is in his mid 30's now and has matured and doesn't drink heavily as he probably used to so it's much harder to get over it and move on. This is all a theory put you still have no right say he's a pussy. Perhaps if you accomplished was he has done then you would have a right, but you haven't. If you haven't yet, wait until you've experience the pain of losing a close friend or family member and you'll see different. I haven't yet but I've come close many times and it hurts to even think about it.

ALso, to use some stats on your "they don't sell as well claim", heres a way to look at it. the top 3 selling bands may be males, but if we look at per capita (in this case, band) income, I'm willing to bet female bands are just as successful as their male counterparts, on average.

People deal with the loss of friends and family in different ways. Who are you to judge how he should deal with it? Remember that Paul Gray was one of the main writers in Slipknot so it would be hard to adjust to it. Also consider this, Metallica when Cliff died where in their mid-20's and may not have fully realized the impact of it due to their excessive drinking which hid the pain. Corey Taylor is in his mid 30's now and has matured and doesn't drink heavily as he probably used to so it's much harder to get over it and move on. If you haven't yet, wait until you've experience the pain of losing a close friend or family member and you'll see different. Im not sure if you're aware that Cliff was the one who taught James harmonics. He had the most musical theory knowledge in the band and that definitely influenced their writing process a lot. Plus you can see in the interviews how deep a brotherhood bond James and Cliff shared. But I guess your are right when u say each one deals with the death of a close one in his own way. I just find the whole running around to different bands disloyal to his main band which is Slipknot. Whatever he does now i think he shouldn't let Slipknot down and focus on the band that brought him to fame...if not for him, at least for the fans.

P.s I'm not into Slipknot that much but i can understand the hardcore fans' their frustrations

You are completely missing the point... These females are great singers in average bands... Slash and the rest of VR are NOT average. I'm goign to get ripped apart for saying this, but look what B.O.B. did for hayley from paramore. Look what Seether did for Amy Lee, evenesance was aight, but when she sang with seether, she turned more mainstream because we realized she could rock as well as write piano songs... to argue fame is completely irrelevant. I'm an A7X fan, but that doesn't mean i'm arguing they are the best ever, they aren't, I just love listening to them. VR has the pieces of the puzzle to be great, and they have the tools to make a corner piece fit in the middle.

Indeed, I never really liked Slipknot or his singing in that band, but he absolutely SHINES in Stone Sour, great band.

But back on topic, I'm not too sure that Corey should be the lead singer for VR. I'm no singer, but singing for three mainstream bands that would probably be touring a lot can't be good for the throat.

ya, someone was saying he wrote a new tune, but I'm excited for SOAD now that they're back. and oh, since this topic has had nothing to do w/ corey taylor or VR, I'd just like to say that I personally believe Slipknot was, and are champions of the worst trend to happen to metal, and popular music since Hair Metal.

I don't know if I could hear Corey singing Scott's songs. And I CERTAINLY don't want to hear Fergie singing for them. Actually, just because you're on the Internet doesn't mean you have free speech. If you're on a website you have to abide by the rules of the owner. Just because you're sitting behind a keyboard doesn't give the freedom to spout off whatever you want. People who cry about free speech on the Internet need to have bad things said about them.

Correction. I hate Slipknot for the most part, asides from a few select songs, but as far as Stone Sour goes I prefer them.
