It's an excellent guitar for a beginner, but other than that it just lacks a lot of stuff, like if you took one of these and put beter-grade quality stuff into it, it would be a great guitar for anyone. But above all, it's a beginner's guitar...
However, it is very reliable and catches a lot of light in on stage, so if you're a young teen-ager with some hot licks, it just might help a little bit with capturing the audience!
POSTED: 07/08/2006 06:46pm

I'm planning on getting this used for $160. I tried it through a Marshall 100-watt and a Boss DS-1 and it sounds awesome. I also own a Squire Tele and it gets me the Red Hot Chilli Peppers sound right but I'm thinking of branching out to more "modern" forms of music. So do you guys think I should get this?
POSTED: 07/12/2006 08:15am

Trust me, $160 is a pretty good deal.
If u like the sound & feel etc..., go for it! It's actually a very decent guitar, especially for someone who's been playing for only a couple of years.
POSTED: 07/12/2006 02:05pm

I'd only recommend this guitar for beginners. Anyone with more than 6 months of playing time is going to realize how crappy it is. I have one and it's going to shit. Pretty much all the chrome is flaking off and the screws are rusting. One of my strap pins fell out early in its life. The pole-pieces of the pickups don't line up with the strings. Terrible upper fret access. Bland-sounding pickups. Imprecise tuners. Knobs that fall off with the slightest jolt. I've since upgraded to a Schecter C-1 Hellraiser. Much nicer.
POSTED: 08/24/2007 01:41am

this guitar sounds pretty good...although,it is neck-heavy so when youre standing up playing it you have to hold it up with your palm while hitting chords... that kind of sucks... the guitar is good for beginners though.
POSTED: 10/10/2007 03:52pm

ive been playin for about 6 months and practicin every day so far, and this guitar sturdily holds up. I can play rly any style of music, and it sounds pretty good. However, I plan on purchasing A better guitar though, more suited for playin metal. I do agree that this is a great beginner guitar but like Jmodum said, it is pretty lame compared to higher end guitars. Still, a great value.
POSTED: 12/12/2007 07:12pm

its a starter guitar....its not going to be your vintage $1000 Ibanez. It's very good for a starter. Very versitile to figure out what style you like. One bad thing was that my button that holds the stap on the end fell off so I had to super glue it back.
POSTED: 01/11/2008 06:37pm

can i set a scene for you people? i have a white Ibanez GAX70 electric guitar, and i have added a few small add-ons, like strap locks, new tone knobs, diff strap, tuning keys (some were bad), but i was wondering about 2 things; 1: can i remove any pickup, whether it be the bridge or the neck, and put in like a seymour duncan or a EMG? and 2: can i replace the tail piece and stop bar with a better brand? what do you guys think? i need comments back ASAP!
POSTED: 08/14/2008 12:01pm

absoutley!! I reccomend seymour duncans and to take it to a professional to install them. YOu could probably do it your self but if ur doing gigs then u want it done right
POSTED: 12/17/2008 07:44pm

I bought one of these in transparent red, used, for $100 to use as a beater guitar I can haul around with me. I've since lined the pickup/control cavities with copper, rewired it and replaced electronics, shimmed neck and dressed frets, replaced the crappy tuners with Grover locking ones and replaced the pickups with an SH-8 Invader at the bridge and an SH-14 Custom 5 at the neck.
That's a lot of work to put into a beater, but most of this stuff I had laying around and the guitar is a tone monster, now. It's actually a quite nice guitar and plays very well for a cheapie. Had to do a little work on the ABR-1 clone bridge with jewelers files to fix the saddle slots, as they were causing tuning issues and string creep.
POSTED: 03/31/2009 10:25pm
