I've had mine for a few years... I hated the amp it came with, I bought a new one and it sounds much better. The selector has progressively gotten in worse shape, I have to mess around with it for a little bit to get a full tone. I play mostly rock and it has suited me well for the most part. Good for beginners.
POSTED: 07/30/2006 11:33pm

going with glue mans review here. i do feel the neck is very cheap because i've already got a crack in the body right under the 21st fret, but that could just be because i got it from my cousin and he played live with it. scratches really easy yes.. and i've got thousands of dents. but all in all its a great guitar and has served me well.
POSTED: 10/05/2006 02:00pm

I have this guitar and to be honest its pretty crap, the tremolo system only goes one way (I'm pretty sure most tremolos should go up as well as down), it breaks easily - just this morning the socket where i put my lead in fell out and its just generally not good quality. If anyone is thinking of getting one, dont, save up for something better or just get a squier they are about the same price but better.
POSTED: 02/21/2007 11:13am

I have The ERG-121 and mine doesn't have too many scratches even though I've had it for about two years, and I play it frequently. It really isn't a bad guitar, but I do agree that the amp is a bit...crappy. I use another amp.
POSTED: 05/25/2007 12:08am

Shite guitar. I wouldn't recommend even beginners to get this. It's not even set up properly. I had problems with the bridge, action was too low (lots of buzzing), no sort of tone out of it, the amp is crap, poor nexk and headstock.
POSTED: 06/20/2007 11:29am

This is my only guitar at the moment (getting an Ibanez RG350DX) but i can say that the ERG is utterly crap and so are the yamaha strings, which i found unwinded themselves and the next time u played them, they snapped. The sound on the original amp was auful so i got a MarshalMG30DFX and it sounded better, but i cant get the tones right for half the songs i play. I did get a good deal though for it (£86 for guitar, amp, case and strap) and is a good guitar for begginers.
POSTED: 06/25/2007 03:10pm

This guitar is good for beginners. It scratches bad and the input jack bit breaks easily but apart from that its good - stays in tune and i can get a decent tone with the pickups. Everyone is rating this low because of the amp and the crappy cables that come in the gig bag but as soon as you upgrade the amp and get some better cables - the guitar sounds good.
POSTED: 07/21/2007 05:44am

Whatever anyone else says I really like this guitar. It have's really good sounds with Roland Microcube and it's easy to play.
Microphone selector broke but it was quite easy to replace. And also the screw of thrusting-rod broke but I don't really need to use it.
It's not a beatiful one but as I paid 70€ for it but I like it anyway
POSTED: 08/29/2007 07:37am

I bought this guitar knowing exactly what it was, something to try out and see if you really want to play an electric guitar with out spending a lot of money and loosing it if you dont want it. Anyway, I've been playing my yamaha acoustic for 25 years and was getting bored. On an impulse, I bought this kit from Costco last Christmas. Nine months later and Im still happy. As far as the bridge selector switch, I had some trouble with it but I improved it buy spraying it with contact cleaner and soldering the wire they had missed and was just stuck in the hole. It's still not perfect but a lot better. Throw the patch cord out right away, it really is bad.A new set of strings and a few bridge adjustments and its fine. I don't plan to be in a band so this axe will do me just fine till I find another bargan on something better.Keeping my eyes peeled for a yamaha tc style guitar and a better amp. I feel this is a great guitar for learning and practicing, just as it was intended for.
POSTED: 09/30/2007 10:24pm

Remember picking one of these up, just thought 'What the hell, give it a try'. The bridge bucker was nice, but that was it. The rest was either a bit naff, or just plain cheap-feeling. Still, what do you expect for a 2nd hand £50 guitar with a few battle-scars?
POSTED: 10/30/2007 02:18pm

Yeah the pickups aren't brilliant but I run it through Guitar Rig 3 and manage to get some nice tones. I've just picked it up after 3 weeks and it's still in tune.
My first guitar! I was never really into guitars because I broke my left pinkie when I was 15, I took off the cast 2 weeks early and it didn't really heal well. Now it's kinda deformed - perfect for those hard bar chords.

Then one day, I got drunk with a couple of friends and ended up alone in a music shop in Sweden. I saw this beauty, fell in love and took it with me. Second hand but unused (great price! - with softcase, a couple of straps and cables). The guy who sold it probably didn't like it but I lost my guitar virginity to this baby... my friends laughed their asses off when I met them with this guitar on my back at the local pub a couple of hours later.

This baby is cheap but never underestimate it. Sure it's a beginner's guitar but it's kinda overratedly stupid if you cannot play then you buy a Gibson or Fender. You could get some noisy sounds from the pick-ups but it's the charm of this guitar. 5 selection makes it even sweeter. The look is bad-ass, true rock/metal fashion.

Sadly, I sold mine when I upgraded to an Ibanez Les Paul and needed some cash. Buy this then learn how to play. Punk-Rock-Metal-Reggae-Whatever... this is a pure music orgy axe. I'm getting this one back in the future for nostalgic reasons
POSTED: 02/19/2010 08:19pm

It beats any Squier and Ibanez GIO in its price range, but still isn't a great guitar. The overall rating is right, despite the fact that newbies feel entitled to write reviews about things they don't handle well and understand very little. (ANY guitar can do palm muting sounds, it's a player's technique, not a guitar feature. Some axes do it louder, some do it in a more silent manner: the player has to choose the guitar according to his skills. If it doesn't do palm muting loud enough, than the player didn't know how to choose his guitar and, as a consequence, he shouldn't write reviews , but feelings and impressions .)
POSTED: 10/20/2011 11:57am
