I wouldn't go as far to say this is easily their best album but its pretty damn good. It is one you can listen to forever but i like the way older stuff like kerplunk, 1039 smoothed out slappy hours or dookie which i have been listing to for years now. But i love the fact the songs are short and this album is on the heavier side. I think he was going through a little depression he got pretty chunky during this time
POSTED: 06/08/2006 01:38pm

This CD is awesome, man. Billie Joe's lyrics are astounding and all the songs are worth listeninig to a million times. Sure it is way different than the American Idiot CD, but it totally kicks ass. I can't even pick any favorites, that's how awesome the songs are.
Side Note: Billie Joe's vocals on this CD are way awesome and very unique. Of course, the entire band as a whole is unique, and that's why we love them.
POSTED: 08/03/2006 08:35pm

This is my fave green day album and with the 18 songs you get a lot for your money. The riff on hitchin a ride is the best green day riff and time of your life is a classic. The only thing that spoils it is 'last ride in' and 'take back' which are shite
POSTED: 09/21/2006 08:36am

I agree, Last Ride In isn't as bad as Take Back, but yeah, pretty bad. The rest though is awesome. King For A Day rock! I love how they perform it at concerts the best. It has to be one of the funniest songs I have ever seen, along with Grouch.
POSTED: 09/26/2006 10:46pm

'Take Back' is a great PUNK song and 'Last Ride In' is one of those songs you 'break' an album with. Without 'Last Ride In' Nimrod wouldn't flow right. You can't go from Uptight straight to Jinx! It just doesn't work! I think it would be great if they played it in elevators and stuff.. Or when you're on the telephone and somebody puts you on hold..

This album is one of their best along with Kerplunk and 39/Smooth.. I really like every song on the cd but my favorits are Jinx/Haushinka, King For A Day, Prosthetic Head, and The Grouch. BTW, has anybody else ever gotten into a fist fight for singing along with "The Grouch" or is it just me? People say that Green Day isn't Punk but really, when you sing along to a bands song and get into fights, how is that not punk? lmao..
POSTED: 10/21/2006 05:07pm

Let's get it right shall we?

1. Good Riddance (duh duh)
2. Platapus (Awesome lyrics!)
3. King for a day (Lighten up, people, this rocks!)
4. Hitchin' a Ride (their best solo ever!)
5. Prosthetic Head (The greatest one the sing along to)
6. Take Back (Screamo? It works, trust me)
7. Nice Guys Finish Last (Great to play really load if you have a sporty car )
8. Grouch (Careful where you sing this!)
9. Redundant (It's true)
10. Uptight (Emooooo)
11. Hauskinka (would have been even better if they hadn't used the 3-chord set half way through. y'no, the same one they've used in about 8 other of their songs?)
12. All the Time (theres that chord pattern again...)
13. Walking alone (Harmonic solo makes up for it!!)
14. Reject (Nice lyrics, but not that memorable)
15. Worry Rock (Very 90's. Like Prosthetic head, but not as good)
16. Scattered (Basically Worry Rocks's identical twin)
17. Jinx (just kinda sucks. Did Tre right the lyrics? Because his songs usual suck lol)
18. Last Ride In (Adored it when i first heard it, now it's just repetive & bored & i want it to end. Skip. Nice to chill out to, though, i must admit)

Better. No? Put your own version then...

I found Mr Whirly's review a little annoying, and not just because i disagreed with many of her points (which are) : worry rock, jinx, haushinka are awesome songs, and how can you say uptight is emo? Just because it mentions 'suicide' you throw it into a genre which it is a fad to call songs/bands. And also the grouch isnt about Billie (some say its about fat mike from NoFx). How can Billie be writing about being middle aged when he wrote that song somewhere around age 25 or earlier? And why the hell would he write about being like his dad in a negative way when his dad died when Billie was a boy? He even says that Wake Me Up When blah blah is the first song he has written about his dad and coming to terms with his death? You wrote a completely annoying fan-girl review so i decided to school you. You claim this to be a great album when you believe the middle is full of 'filler crap'.
POSTED: 10/21/2009 01:58pm

I'm so, so, sorry, but you gravely misunderstand. When I said "as he rants about how he's 'turning out like his dad'", I didn't mean that it was from his perspective, it could have been from someone else's point of view. As for Worry Rock, Jinx and Haushinka, I'm sorry that I don't share the same opinions as you, but who cares! (I never said Worry Rock was bad)And come on, the 'filler crap' is like, what, FOUR songs?

So, thanks for 'schooling' me, but I don't see how that's supposed to help if you don't list any suggestions on how my attitude towards music that I like should improve. Thank you for the redundant post.
POSTED: 10/31/2009 12:14am
