But anyways, this is disappointing to hear. I follow Nikki on Facebook and Twitter, and I've read both his books. He always struck me as the kind of guy who would encourage fans recording the experience.

You can usually watch them for free on youtube anyway and they pretty much always sound like crap.

The guy had a professional camera. He wasn't stopping a guy for filming with his phone. It's still stupid, but the guy who filmed this isn't as rebellious as you think he is.

He still took the damn camera. It didn't belong to him, and just because it was at his show doesn't give him to right to take it. The guy should have been told to put the camera up, not assaulted. So I think my point still stands, he should face some sort of charge.

I would also suggest to Nikki that if he is worried about someone profiting off of "high quality video" (pretty unlikely because the camera isn't plugged into the soundboard and so it is going to be at the very least pretty rough soundwise)then the band should be recording its shows and putting them on sale themselves. So this problem is due mostly to shortsightedness on the part of the bands themselves. Too bad that Nikki's brain is too addled from his years of heroin abuse to recognize this obvious point.

The hall let the guy in with that camera and it was allowing people with iphones to take footage of the band by the scores. So there was definitely no stated prohibition on any filming at the venue at all and tossing the fan out was thus rather unfair.

Principles matter.

I agree that, even if this guy did plan on selling copies of his presumably poor bootleg, it would not hurt a nostalgia act like Motley Crue at all.

But that doesn't mean it's his right as a ticket holder to film what he wants, when he wants. I would relate it to filming a movie at a theater, but it's more like filming a play. Would you expect no one to mind if you filmed a play, as well?

Metallica did this too, and they had more of a problem with it. And again, he wouldn't be doing it because he dosn't want it getting sold, he wouldn't care about the money. Some of you people need to realise what Nikki Sixx and Motley Crue are about before commenting.
