If this guitar is amazing as you say it is, come back in 6 months and tell us what you think of it then: judging by the straight-10 score, and that there's a 600 model that's even better, I'd say you got this sometime this month and haven't had a chance to find out any problems with it.

BTW didn't Laiho's actual signature models really SAY "Signature" in the model names....?
POSTED: 09/19/2007 01:39pm

I wouldn't go around telling everyone you've been playing since you were four, on account of you have hardly any motor skills or coordination at that age. Unless, uh, you define "playing" as "falling on top of a guitar" or something. Y'know. Along those lines.

I like alder wood. I know the 600 is superior, but I've always had alder-bodied guitars. It's not as dense as basswood, so it's got a brighter tone. It's ubiquitous on Fender instruments.
Why would you buy a guitar that screams "METALL!!!!" in looks for "softer" music? To be a smartass or something?
POSTED: 09/19/2007 08:58pm

This guitar is fantastic for Live playing. Alexi is constantly on tours with his ESP signatures so they were made to be durable and take a beating. Hardware has lasted and will last for a long time. Strap buttons are solid and can hold a good amount of weight. I've used it at gigs before without backups but with and SG in a different tuning. And I'm sure that the finish will last and wont wear off

What you dont seem to know is that he has like 30 of the same guitar, and i cant see him playing this model either, for 700 i would get an Ibanez with neck thru

Actually, he uses 4 for live preformances, and has used the same 4 since he had them made after his JAcksons got stolen. In addition, he uses the Japanese made ESP signatures, not the American made LTDs. Totally opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of build quality and durability. Not to mention price...
POSTED: 09/19/2007 09:01pm

RR3 would have been better choice since it has better floyd rose,better pickups,better quality,better craftsmanship and the neck is pure heaven for me(not for everyone though). Only a strat or tele? A good fender strat or tele would OWN the shit out of your LTD man! That wasnt wisely said. IF IT WAS SQUIER...then the LTD would be better and ofcourse some cheapeass fenders suck too. Youre just acting like a fanboy who likes to have alexis name sticked to the headstock thats the point. RR3 is same price and it has much better components overall and is a better guitar for the same price. Congratz for guitar nevertheless.
I have this guitar on order and it should arrive in 3 days. I would quit the guitar bashing because: a) every point you are trying to make against this guitar is totally relative and opinion based, b) some people prefer bolt-on necks, passive electronics, and don't really care that much about whether or not their tremolo unit is the original or a liscensed copy, and c) lots of great guitar players have used or use cheap guitars (Eddie Van Halen's legendary guitar was built from $200 worth of parts). I have an Epiphone Les Paul Custom, a Gibson SG Special Faded, a MIM Fender Standard Stratocaster, a Schecter C-1 Plus, an Ovation acoustic/electric, a Jackson DKMG Dinky with active EMG 81/85, an Ibanez RG350DX, a PRS SE Custom, and soon this guitar. I have and have played many different guitars and none have ever felt "just right" to me, until now. I have tried the ESP LTD Alexi-600 and to be perfectly honest, I don't like the painted neck (it gets too slippery when I sweat), I like the bolt-on necks (I like the sound better and I like how easy it is to change the neck), and the pick-up, that is totally opinion based (I play metal and I hate active pick-ups because they sound so thin and you can get better distortion, crunch, and tone out of a good pedal. I will be replacing the pickup in this guitar with a Seymour Duncan Dimebucker (my personal preference). I don't care about the liscensed floyd rose tremolo because I have never had a bad experience with liscensed tremolos. This is the best guitar I have ever played and I love it. Congratulations on finding a guitar that you really love, BulletCrazy.
POSTED: 10/25/2007 02:52pm

Excuse me but. That wasnt so smart post. The licensed floyd and OFR thing aint taste...its the thing that licensed crap out and go out of tune. And they aint even EMGs thats the bashing...they are copies. And as for active vs. passive...if you get thin sound you must suck at EQ:ing...im sorry but ive owned both and i do like actives more coz of the increased gain and sustain but sure it has bottom end weight point. Just for the record...the last LTD floyd rose i had was TOTALLY crap...and its the exact same one thats on the alexi-200. Other than that youre right...but check your facts and be a bit more realistic.
POSTED: 10/25/2007 03:05pm

Well, I can "EQ" the shit out of an EMG 81 and either get a sound that's too thin for my tastes or too bass heavy, I can't seem to get the feel and warmth I want out of it. I know that these pickups are EMG copies, the reason I said anything was because everyone seemed to be trying to tell this kid he is stupid for not buying a guitar with EMG active pickups. Oh, and I do have my facts straight *******, the only things I like about having a preamp in my active pickups is the fact that the distortion fades very smooth and noise reduction is amazing. Why would you call someone a "wannabe" for playing a signature series guitar? I play the alexi-200 because it has everything I need and nothing I don't and feels right, not because I want to pretend I'm Alexi Laiho or pretend I'm awesome because I have it. And even if you put an original Floyd Rose tremolo on this guitar and an EMG 81, you would only be out $700 and probably be alot happier if you like the feel of this guitar over a Jackson RR3, which I do. There may be guitars out there at this price with "better specs", but I again point out that which specs are better than others is totally opinion based. I have a liscensed Floyd Rose tremolo on my Ibanez RG350DX and my Jackson DKMG Dinky and I have not had any tuning stability problems or part failures with either of them so far, so that's where my opinion about tremolos comes from. If the LTD liscensed tremolo fails me or turns out to be crap, then you will be the first to hear about it.....
POSTED: 10/25/2007 08:13pm

The EMG thing is just becoz seymour duncans in a RR3 surely beats the **** out of something that isnt REAL EMg...i use EMG 81 and have used EMG HZ...i love them. I even had a gainbooster made by EMG for the passives. Unfortunately it was just very noisy. i didnt call you or him wannabe but other people tend to do that since there are alot of guys who are totally wannabes. Some specs are NOT opinion based...you cant outrule a SD/EMG with somekinda copy shit. THe FR is not opinion based either since there is nothing that feels better on a LTD Lisc.FR or any other than a OFR...the difference is noticeable. Im just telling you of own experience. I got the feel and warmth out of EMG 81 but i do own a tube amp tho...The EMG HZs...sustain and gainyness migth just not be as good as EMG 81 but i can get the same tones out of emg 81 if i want to. Its just smarter to invest in ONE active humbucker than a HZ+Gainbooster. The wiring can kill you...Yes the RR3 vs. Alexi-200 is mostly neck based coz those 2 have so different necks but the SPECS are better since it has better LFR and Pickups and also better quality/craftsmanship. Only minus is 22 frets.
POSTED: 10/27/2007 04:46am

I see your point about the pickups, I have a Peavey Valveking halfstack and still can't get the EMG 81 to sound great. I do like to use the EMG 85 as a bridge humbucker, but I would still opt for a Dimarzio or Seymour Duncan passive design (my personal preference). I usually change the stock pups anyways, so pickups are never a determining factor when I'm shopping for a guitar. The tremolo issue is another story, I haven't used a Floyd Rose (original or liscensed) that I didn't like, so I have nothing against liscensed locking tremolos thus far. I do like the Ibanez ZR tremolo better than any others I have tried, but it would be too much of a pain in my ass to install one on a guitar that wasn't already routed for it (and I really don't like Ibanez necks, so it's not worth owning an Ibanez just for the badass ZR tremolo in my opinion). I feel that the quality/craftsmanship that ESP/LTD offers is pretty comparable to Jackson (owned by Fender). I really have never had any problems with either brand and I really enjoy my Jackson DKMG Dinky, but I really don't like the Jackson RR models, they just plain don't feel right to me.
POSTED: 10/27/2007 01:19pm

Yah well shit happens maybe i was just unlucky to have a really bad Lisc.FR on my previous LTD. It kept crapping out while playing and shit. Really hard to set up too! Well I have randall tube halfstack and my EMG 81 sounds great for what i play so i dunno. I just happened to like the RR3 much more than the LTD i had and that was also of the Alexi laiho signature series but limited sales in finland only. It had LFR,2 EMG HZ,alder body,rosewood fretboard. I put a EMG Afterburner on it and hated it. The owner that has it now likes it i guess but the neck just turned me off plain and simple. Also the quality of the building was not really good. Then i have tried one alexi-200 i hated it...clumsy and disgusting to play but it is possible that was the bad setup at the shop and sticky neck and bad action xP
POSTED: 10/27/2007 02:25pm

A)Not true http://www.thomann.de/fi/esp_ltd_alexi_2...
http://ww w.thomann.de/fi/jackson_rr3_randy_rhodes.htm
50 bucks aint that bad and since thomann changed prices im SURE you could get it for 500 where you live.
B)He meant the shitty pickups and the fact tehres ONLY ONE...not the number of frets. THat actually made me laugh. No its not illegal but changing to a better bridge humbucker wont give oyu wider soundworld. Only make the current one better. The RR3 has 2 pickups which both are the best tehre is in its kind while the alexi-200 has 1 pickup that aint EVEN A REAL EMG. 50 bucks while a set of those SDs would cost well over 100 bucks. shit the same you still have only one humbucker.
C)Yes it does! In terms of build quality AND components. I mean hear yourself! Im sure you dont play the 24th fret that constantly if even at all...Alexi can go in a ****ing solo there 1 or 2 times and thats little and theres something called bends. The Jackson LFR is superior to any LTD LFR shit...there aint only 1 kinds of LFR...Jackson just makes them better and end of ****ing story. so basically you just bought a overall worse guitar for 2 more frets. What you have to understand is that theres a huge amount of difference in build quality AND components and the LFR are made by different people to different guitars so it does make a big difference. Im sorry if i sound like an ass but im just clearing up facts here.
POSTED: 11/08/2007 09:38am

I was pointing out the fact that people will tell you you should have bought guitar a over guitar b (the one you bought), but when you look at the reviews for guitar a, everyone there is saying you should buy guitar c because it is a little better than guitar a. You're "wrong" no matter what you buy, I guess, because there is always a "better" guitar. And why do you think I'm rich? I have accumulated all my gear over the course of like 8 years with careful budgeting and saving, not being rich (I only make $22,100 a year).
POSTED: 11/13/2007 12:42pm

Well i actually have played a vbt 700 but only for about 10 minutes. It was very good and performed great. Im not sure how durable it is and the sound was out of a marshall microstack so of course it was gonna sound good so i cant really compare it to the alexi 200 except that the alexi 200 just sorta feels better to me for some reason. I might just not be an ibanez type of person. But dont spend all that money just based on what i have to say... try to find a store and try it out yourself if u can
POSTED: 11/20/2007 10:00am

Come on if everyone is being honest and fair, this guitar does not desreve a 10 in anything, its the bottom end model. Its not a bad guitar for the money, not by any stretch of the imagination. I'd never want a guitar with a bolt on neck anymore though, unless it wan an ibanez, and i don't like the edge trems, (edge 3 in particular). Nope, through/set necks and floyd rose for me. And "designed" pickups from any manufacturer are instant fail. EMG and Seymour Duncan all the way.
POSTED: 01/03/2009 03:26pm

common guys why are we bashing eachother
well i have to say i like the 200 model though the 600 is undoubtebly better, and i own a RR3 and i love the neckthrough but what makes me giggle like a giddy little school girl is the cutaway on the 200 model, i love it. and to be honest i prefer passive pickups, but thats just personal preference and i know im gonna get bashed for sayin it. but common guys we're all entitled to our own opinion and there is absolutly no reason for you to inflict it upon someone else when they have different tastes.
well this is a great buy in my opinion, but do research before you buy it. and definitly dont buy it if this is your first time with a trem on a guitar cuz this will lead to numerous headaches.
POSTED: 01/20/2009 01:05pm

A RR3 would have been a better guitar for the money. Its not even more expensive! LTD FLOYDESP EMG COPIES! Get my point? And i havent even gotten to the point that theyre made in japan and LTD in korea and that makes jackson better quality. but congratz on your guitar.

I have an All American strat with custom coiled humbuckers and a very tight TremKing trem and it is Amazing for CoB music it just doesn't have the look. I got the alexi-200 a week ago and put in an EMG 81 for and extra $99. It sounds just as good as my $1500 superstrat and it cost me $560 after the pickup.
POSTED: 06/23/2009 02:40am

Personally, I think this guitar is a case of personal preference.
I will put this out there first, I have only played the Rhoads, and not the Alexi, so this is all theoretical.

But, I think this guitar offers a lot of potential:
I only use the bridge pick-up for a start;
I have never found a neck-thru that I have liked before;

For this spec, the "equivalent" (by which, I mean 1 pickup) Rhoads (RR24) is around £700-800, whereas the Alexi is between £300-400. It is a massive difference;

I don't like the Floyd Rose, I much prefer Ibanez Edge;

Unless the guitar is fitted with them stock, I really can't be bothered with active pickups. I think it is a bit too much of a risk to route them out for the battery, when it won't necessarily sound how you want it to.

I think that this guitar can be a great "platform" guitar. And the modifications I would do (Ibanez Edge £120-ish, EMG FHZ-H2 or FHZ-H4 £80) would take me to roughly £600. Which is still £200 less than the RR24.

All these things are a case of personal preference, and I'd much rather get a cheaper guitar like this, and modify it to my ideal rather than pay more for a guitar that doesn't fit it.

I am not at all saying that the Rhoads is a bad guitar, because they aren't. I have played the RX10D, the RR3 and the RR24, and they all have their ups and downs.
It just depends on the player
POSTED: 07/31/2010 07:29pm

I love Alexis guitar, however I have played several diferent jacksons and esps and honestly I think that even a Jackson rx10d is just as good if not better than the alexi signature. So I agree with the rr3 I am sure it has better quality and a great sound and feel. I play bodom stuff all the time and wouldn't even use his signature (200 I have never played a 600) for it.
POSTED: 07/25/2012 05:50am
