Honestly the high-gain sounds on this thing are fantastic. I use a ToneLab and an RP350 and the gains on the Vamp2 are way heavier then any of those. To me thats where it accels at. Not that the other modelers don't do good high gain but don't over look this thing it's just as usable as a POD which is revered for its high gain tone.
POSTED: 05/03/2007 03:23am

The V-amp II is very good for personal pratice but for studio you must use the V-amp pro. The sound of the V-amp is pretty good and very clear. You can upload a lot of artist sound like , Yngwie malmsteen or eddie van halen on the berhinger site
POSTED: 09/07/2007 09:54pm

With alot of OK and muddy effects and descent sounding ampmodels I think the V-amp is a good when you practise alone. But when it comes to recording or liveplaying IŽll definately choose my PODXT over the V-amp everytime.
POSTED: 03/09/2008 06:01am

I think the secret for not having an artificial sound in these multifx units is NOT adding reverb to the distortion/drive.
Since all effects are digital, the reverb blends into the tone, unsharping the edges. Like a digitally record Cd.
The solution would be using a separate 0D/DS pedal and the Vamp only for the other effects. In my pedal board, only my Delay unit is digital.
I played with the Vamp in a party jam session, and it sounded good, considering there was a lot of noise around from the other players. The only thing was the footswitch was missing, so I had to ask for the bass player to change the effect on/off for me. By that time, I had no gear of mine, but I was missing the freedom of stomping in the middle of 2 pedals for swaping effects.
POSTED: 09/21/2010 09:38am
