Yes Sam, we know the record contains old demo material. So f**king what?!? It's good music.

Everyone that's heard the album (Pete Thorn, Mark Tremonti, John 5, etc.) has said that this is the heaviest stuff they've done since Fair Warning.

Can't wait til Feb 7th when this comes out & shuts Sam the f**k up.

Now as for Sammy's statements, like him or not, he spoke his mind and it sounds to me like he's more disappointed in the new VH material than anything. Read his book, he's a pretty smart and ambitious guy.

Really? This makes no sense. Based on Tattoo, I won't buy the new VH CD. A band always releases a song that is going to attract attention so people want to hear more. While I agree Sammy is quoted basing VH a lot lately... what is he supposed to say "Oh yeah, Tattoo is great. Fans should buy that and not Chickenfoot III?" Blame the media for constantly asking him about VH. Personally, I like orginal DLR VH better than Chickenfoot, but there's about a dozen Chickenfoot songs that I like better than any VH song released after Balance.

I think it's more along the lines of:
Tattoo sucks, compared to DLR-era Van halen.
On its own, it's not that bad, aside from the lyrics and some vocal delivery -- just like all of Sammy Hagar's best material.

It's not that someone might not agree with what he's saying (except who really cares when the material was written?), it's just that he has no right to criticize someone for their songwriting, etc.

I'm just gonna throw it out there and say that Sammy Hagar has barely written one good song; he's had a couple decent ones, but that's just the laws of probability at work, as many albums as he's released.

This is as if Marilyn Manson and Madonna were both to come out criticizing Lady Gaga for her style, her shock-value/costumes, persona, etc. -- not criticizing her for possibly lifting any of their ideas -- simply criticizing her for it, in general, as if it were something they were both not guilty of, themselves.
