Well, considering Christians believe that God knows everything and all is pre determined, can't you say this about anything?

I guess this helps find him closure and purpose, so that's good.
POSTED: 02/16/2012 10:14am

I see it more as humble than arrogant. Even though I typically believe in more of a passive God, he is actually saying that he had very little to do with his success and that it was all thanks to God. That sounds humble to me.

Maybe the reason God has fixed poverty, starvation, and disease is because Man keeps interfering? Or because He want us to solve our own problems and grow and a species?

I am not trying to argue with you, or defend religion (I know there are plenty of problems with it), but God is like a parent to Man. My parents taught me a lot by letting me solve my own problems.
POSTED: 02/16/2012 10:58am

Yet he helps Tebow's team win? Isn't that solving a problem for someone else and not letting us for ourselves? What about doctors that perform life saving surgeries and people thank God instead of the surgeons? God let us fix our own problems.
Not saying that God isn't letting us do our own thing, since I believe one thing, you believe another and it's pointless to argue. You could be very right that God is passive and is letting us do our own thing. Even so, doesn't it make it even more wrong to presume that it was because of God then? Why can't we just accept that we have done something if God really is passive and wants us to fix our own mistakes?
POSTED: 02/16/2012 11:11am

You obvisiouly don't understand the depth of God and his power and its probably due to your negleligence to believe in a God. But God can do all things. I'm not trying to denounce your opinion but and I can understand why you probably have any qualms with this article. Many people distort the image of God as being this higher power that grants them all their wishes and I totally don't believe in a god like that. Though God will give to those who call upon his name and do his will, I believe that he has given us all a choice to make up our own lives and provides assistance and direction. So its right to give him thanks. Now about suffering, and poverty and all of that. These things were brought into the world by sinful man but are there to make Gods presence known to man. Without suffering we would not understand what plesure is. God will one day end all of that but with the same free will that he has granted to man he expects us to use that free will to make his presence known and we do that by coming together in love and unity and helping to aid in these matters. Its all about freewill, its just a matter of what we do with it.
POSTED: 02/16/2012 12:56pm

See, this is one of the reasons why I don't like religions of any kind. I like to think that I'm in control of my own life and that whatever I achieve I achieve it by myself, not thanks to some omnipotent dude up there in the sky. No offense to any religious people who might be reading this, but really, I think that this whole "yeah, this was all thanks to God, I'm blessed by him" attitude is stupid. It's like underestimating yourself, like thinking you can't really do anything because all you do is like God's wish or something.

But well of course everyone's free to believe in whatever they want, so yeah, just my opinion. Not trying to start an argument here.
POSTED: 02/16/2012 06:35pm

Most Christians? Really? And by the way you've completely taken the quote out of context. The bible says the LOVE of money is the root of all evil...not money itself. Maybe you guys should actually try reading the bible objectively before deciding that its just a book of myths and meaningless outdated teachings.

Its so funny how many of you have zero concept of what it means to be a christian or religious at all. Your distortions of Christian teaching's are a flat out embarrassment to any arguments you try to make against it.
POSTED: 02/16/2012 06:51pm

Real cause of man's suffering... Greed. God created the earth to actually provide "enough" resources to support man's needs... but not man's greeds. You look at a rich man's fridge to see spoiling food. Restaurant waste bins with too many leftovers. Houses where the owner does not use. While you see the starving and the homeless. I hope you guys see my point.
POSTED: 02/16/2012 07:21pm

Whats that sound? Why its the sound of Megadeths fans leaving in droves.
I'm just fortunate God didn't use some holy mind trick on me to get me to buy any Megadeth records. Mustaine and Ellefson did WAY too many drugs, and now they believe they were "endorsed" by the invisible
all powerful thing that doesn't exist. I guess they're meat puppets for christ now. They saved the best drug for last... RELIGION. Scared little boys with rock 'n roll toys.
POSTED: 02/17/2012 01:35am

Wow, God sure has a lot of time on his hands these days. Between winning football games for Tim Tebow, supporting all our potential Republican nominees, and ensuring Megadeth's continued success, the guy can hardly be bothered to handle other problems like poverty, starvation and disease, which are much more trifling.

I'm not Christian, or even overly religious at all, but how is it not considered both blasphemous and arrogant to suggest an omnipotent, all powerful being like God would do something as ridiculous as make sure Megadeth sells records?

You obvisiouly don't understand the depth of God and his power and its probably due to your negleligence to believe in a God. But God can do all things. - God can do all things except anything. Lets see you PROVE that "he" has done anything. Empirical proof little boy.

I'm not trying to denounce your opinion but and I can understand why you probably have any qualms with this article. Many people distort the image of God as being this higher power that grants them all their wishes and I totally don't believe in a god like that. - So your God isn't the christian god. Burn in hell sinner.

Though God will give to those who call upon his name and do his will, I believe that he has given us all a choice to make up our own lives and provides assistance and direction. - Really. Prove it.

So its right to give him thanks. - Why, because if you don't it pisses "him" off? No ego problem there...so much for divine perfection.

Now about suffering, and poverty and all of that. These things were brought into the world by sinful man but are there to make Gods presence known to man. - Sinful? Really. Sex is bad if not sanctioned by your pedophile priests (marriage). I guess all life on earth is "sinful" according to your invisible master. Good luck with that.

Without suffering we would not understand what plesure is. - So your God makes everyone suffer. What a nice guy. What a completely perfect being.

God will one day end all of that but with the same free will that he has granted to man he expects us to use that free will to make his presence known and we do that by coming together in love and unity and helping to aid in these matters. - And by killing those who don't believe the same bible BS. Maybe you never heard of the crusades... where christians took it upon themselves and supposedly sanctioned by your Jesus to kill those that weren't christians. Classy.

Its all about freewill, its just a matter of what we do with it. - Yeah... free to do what you're told by the church or burn forever in some fire with a "Devil" in charge. God has never written a book or spoken to anyone one on this planet ever. Prove me wrong. Here's a hint... you can't. Why? Because there is no Santa Claus little boy... sorry.

POSTED: 02/17/2012 03:59pm
