When I heard the second track I thought "all it takes now to make this a thin self-copy is Dickinson going 'whoo ho ho whoo ho ho'" and BAM, 4 beats later...
I gnawed myself through the album once and let all hope go. I was surprised that The Final Frontier has at least some decent tracks.

But everything after Dickinson's return is pale and "nice" at best compared to masterpieces like Somewhere In Time, 7th Son or Number.

And no, I'm not kidding, I regard AMOLAD the worst album Maiden ever made. By far.

I always thought BNW, DOD and AMOLAD were heavier than all the 80s/90s albums. Theyre easily my top 3 Maiden albums too. I guess its all a matter of opinion in the end anyway...

To each his own man, but I completely disagree. There's no denying that the 80s Maiden sound is classic, but I love the more progressive approach of newer Maiden. And this was captured perfectly for me on AMOLAD. It's in my top 5 Maiden albums for sure. Dark tracks like Longest Day and Lord of Light, progressive tracks like The Legacy and For the Greater Good of God. Even a short, upbeat opener. Its all awesome.
