canīt understand you! if i compare a standard american fender strat and rate it with lets saz 8,5 cause itīs not a perfect guitar but a real good one i think, how can you rate a bullet strat the same? in comparation i would give it a 1,8 i think, and this onlz because there are behringer strats and cheap imitations...
i think players who did these ratings never ever before held a original fender strat in their hands... i played both, a bullet, an standard strat by squier, a malmsteen strat by fender, a deluxe strat and a standard strat... and well... you canīt compare these guitars... you canīt compare a behringer gmx110 to a mesa boogie dual rectifier... itīs impossible...

In late September 2007, Squier reintroduced the Squier Bullet as the "Squier Bullet Strat." The new Bullet model features a tremolo, along with a standard rosewood fretboard and 3 single-coil pickups. To refute previous criticisms of modern Bullets being made using mystery plywood, the guitar is now being made using solid Basswood.
POSTED: 11/05/2007 04:31am

Has anyone bought the new 08 models?

The Squier Strats I tried out at Guitar Center suck tone and wiring wise, but the finish is quite good and I also tried an American Strat, 2 Mex-Strats, and a Highway one that day... The American and Highway 1 both sound awesome, although the hwy1 has a slightly country tone into it and the US has an awesome clean tone and this nice fuzzy tone into it, I tried an FSR strat and it sounds pretty sweet but the tone knobs are quite badly soldered (or I just tried a bad one) maybe a pro wiring job and custom shop pickups would do it good. I tried the standard mex and well it's similar to the FSR with more crunch.
POSTED: 01/24/2008 07:38pm

I've been playing blues and progressive rock for some years now, and my bullet strat suits my needs perfectly and, using a good amp (I use Fender), sounds way more expensive than it actually is. When playing live, sound technicians have been surprised to find it needs neither equalization nor processing of any kind - one even thought it was a real strat. Sure, the hardware is not magnificent, the sound is less clear and a bit more noisy than in a real Fender, and the neck is not as comfortable, but once you get acquainted with the guitar and learn all its tricks, it will perform far, far better than any other guitar available for this price. This, though, does not apply for styles such as metal or shred - i find the guitar to be designed more for tone than for speed. Also, be warned that it will not produce the thick sound you hear in present-day rock - single-coil pickups do not work for that. If, however, you play general rock, blues, grunge, etc., non-guitarists (that is, the general public) will never know the difference between this and a real Fender.
POSTED: 02/16/2008 02:04am

HOW CAN YOU SAY IT SOUNDS GOOD!!! it really dosent, for a beginner guitar spend an extra 70 dollars and get an ibanez or somthign and a guitar that sounds half decent and dosent go out of tune quicker than an SG i mena really more than half the people here do not know what they are talking about...
POSTED: 03/16/2008 01:42am

Two problems with these reviews the comments... A) Snobbery... I've been playing professionally for 35 years, teaching for 25 and been a recording engineer for 20. I have both owned & recorded "REAL" American Strats, Vintage models, Squire's, Bullets and cheap imitations. Many people will automatically dismiss anything with "Squire" on the headstock as useless simply because it's not a "real" Fender... not true... I used a carefully chosen and properly set-up Squier Tele as my main guitar on stage for 10 years!! ...which brings us to our 2nd problem...
INCONSISTENCY... Essentially what we're seeing from the varied reviews is that some of these guitars were properly setup and well constructed, some were well constructed but never setup right, and some were poorly put together in the first place. THIS is the real key to the Squier... You have to pick and choose from several to find a good one, and have it set up properly by someone who knows what they're doing (not your buddy who says "hell, it looks easy enough... let ME do it") As for how you could rate a Bullet in the same range as an American Standard... I believe "bang-for-the-buck" is being taken into account! As for me, I've already chosen a new Bullet as the 99-dollar starting point for the "Franken-caster" I'm putting together. Among other things, I'm replacing the 3 stock Fender Single Coils with single-coil P-90 Soapbars (like you see in a Les Paul Gold-Top or Epiphone Casino like the Beatles all used), dressing the frets on the already-pretty-good neck, shielding the control/pickup cavity with foil tape to lessen the ever-present single-coil hum, and "vintage-ing" the finish with a sander. All of this will cost me around another hundred bucks... meaning for around 2-bills, I'll have a very unique, very playable, thick-sounding tone-beast that will be the envy of my friends and enemies! I've built this kind of custom guitar before and I always end up having to sell it because someone falls in love and offers me about 4 times what I paid to build it!!
POSTED: 04/23/2008 11:04am

Hey, sorry. Mine is from 2006 but it's the same like Bullet from 9/2007. I've bought it in 06/2007, serial number is CY06065577 name on the headstock is Squier (by Fender) Bullet Strat (like those from 09/2007) and it has tremolo bridge. Someone on this page wrote that Bullet from 2006 was built in Indonesia and had bridge without tremolo. And the name on the headstock was Squier (by Fender) Bullet (without Strat). So why mine Bullet is from 2006 and it is identical like those from 2007?
POSTED: 10/04/2008 12:22pm

It's cheap, it has five sound setting (pickup switch thing), great action, and a tremolo bar, the only thing I don't like is that the sustain doesn't last as long as most guitars. But the fact that it's easy to change action to maximum performance, I later bought an Epiphone Les Paul 100, and I prefer the Bullet Strat, the only thing that I can find better on the Paul is the long lasting sustain. Long story short, I don't think there is another beginning guitar better than this, even if you've been playing four a few years, this guitar is worth buying (unless you already have something like a normal Stratocaster. 9.5/10
POSTED: 01/08/2009 09:28am

Most beginning guitarists probably won't have that kind of money, and when you can't afford a standard or deluxe strat, in price comparison, the bullet is the right choice.
Interseting remarks, having sold my MIM Strat a little while ago (I was stupid and skint) I felt I was mising playing electric and just couldn't practice the sort of things I wanted to do on acoustic so I've just bought a Bullet Strat, paid Ģ80 ok it's pink but who cares that was why it was cheaper. I plays ok and certainly was good value for money, I'm not going to pretend it's anywhere near my old MIM but then it nearly Ģ300 cheaper.
POSTED: 02/18/2009 12:38pm

I just started playing a few days ago and I got this guitar. I went to the squier website and found the manual for the guitar since I was wondering what pickup the tone nob changed.
The first tone nob(closes to volume) changes the middle pickup only and the 2nd tone nob (farthest) changes the neck pickup. Nothing changes the bridge pickup.

I play a Squire Bullet Strat, 2006 of 2007. Paid $99 used (like new). Solid wood body (not plywood) and no whammy bar (really never used one).
I works well. The electronics to not have the professional 'punch' of the real Fender pups. The body is very light, I like that for practicing around home. At least the one I have I'd rate as a GREAT beginner or practice guitar. It looks decent too (dark blue, like the photo above).
how can a squier bullet strat got same valoration as a fender american standard strat? or a deluxe strat?

canīt understand you! if i compare a standard american fender strat and rate it with lets saz 8,5 cause itīs not a perfect guitar but a real good one i think, how can you rate a bullet strat the same? in comparation i would give it a 1,8 i think, and this onlz because there are behringer strats and cheap imitations...

i think players who did these ratings never ever before held a original fender strat in their hands... i played both, a bullet, an standard strat by squier, a malmsteen strat by fender, a deluxe strat and a standard strat... and well... you canīt compare these guitars... you canīt compare a behringer gmx110 to a mesa boogie dual rectifier... itīs impossible...

and i think these ratings wonīt help any beginner... sorry

by the way... iīm not saying, buy a fender strat for 1500 bucks to begin guitar playing

Dude, my brother has both a squier (bought first) and a fender strat.you can't compare them, obvious, but the reviews are evaluating waht you get for the money
POSTED: 06/29/2009 08:08am

I'm a little dissapointed with the whammy bar, mine seems to not want to work at all.
The whole reason I got this was because it had a whammy bar, but I might go back and ask about it.
Bought mine at guitarcenter

I noticed that buzz sound on the pickups, I thought it was me messing the strings, but apparantly not.
Pretty annoying, but I get used to it.

I've been playing guitar for 35 years and I just bought one of these at the Guitar Center. It was used and looked brand new and it was 50 bucks.

I plugged it in tuned it up and it was sounding good. Stayed in tune and I am really hard on them. Neck was nice. I mean it's a nice little guitar. A bit light but this is one for the streets of Nashville.

Also, it has a stop tail piece which is helpful. At this range I would be afraid to get a whammy albeit there are exceptions. I picked up a new Kramer Focus w/ a whammy at best Buy for 80 bucks as a joke. The joke is on them I guess as it is an awesome guitar! Go figure. I had to file the ends of the frets to round them off but that's it.

That was suppose to be my Nashville beat around guitar but it's too nice to beat up! I'd use it live in a heartbeat. This Bullet I'll have to wait until I get it home and beat on it.

Bottom line is you can find good cheap guitars if you look. Plus you need to know what to look for. That's the big thing. You might find ten pieces of junk and then a good one slides through.

For 50 bucks I can't buy the parts to put a start together! Same goes for the Kramer Focus. $80 with a whammy that stays in tune? THAT is rare!
POSTED: 08/22/2009 05:56pm

Hi people i am a new (electro)guitarist.well i have been wasting 5 years playing classical guitar and the last 2 months i have gone to this model after a lot of reaserch both on the net but also at stores.FOR THAT PRICE it was exactly what i was looking for.why? Its clean sound is really clean because of the single coil pickups but of course the drawback is that you cannot put to much pedal to the metal.Nirvana sounds still a bit noisy but bearable.i use it with stagg ga 20r good amp in my opinion for that price again reapeating myself.its the best sound i found through my research not to mention that the quality of the materials was good. The guitar is really comfortable in my hands unlike others,a bit heavy though. My advise is that if someone expects a nice clean sound and wants to be able to play rock or punk he or she should go for it.Dont expect to play Black Sabbath with it though!I think i made it simple enough.Ah!When you buy your guitar make sure its properly set up by the store.Don't come back to the reviews nagging!
POSTED: 11/01/2009 09:48pm

Maybe he meant that it sounded like a bad dream. Fact is, this is a beginner guitar - and there's nothing wrong with that. If you're a beginner, buy it, use it, play it. After you gain experience and money, you'll want something better. And that goes for the MG30, too.

Everybody gotta start somewhere...

I am a guitar teacher and have encountered 2 Squier Bullets belonging to my students.
Because the notes on the E, A, D, and G strings were nearly a quarter tone sharp around frets 1 to 3 relative to the open strings (I'm amazed no-one else on here has mentioned experiencing the same), the guitars were completely impossible to tune up. My previous experiences with Squier Strats were good but at all costs never buy a Bullet without checking it tunes up properly first, preferably with a tuner if you don't have a very good ear for pitch!
POSTED: 02/06/2011 03:52pm

I bought this guitar for almost the double price than Music Store professional sold them for. But still, i have no regrets, because this is simply a great guitar. Everything you'd expect from a start is there; A great tremolo, a slim bolt on neck and, of course the awesome single coil pickups, which you can tweak from Master Of Puppets metal power, To an awesome clean sound, for alle you Deep Purple-Floyd fans out there. I love the extremely twangy bridge pickup sound the most (the pickup selector is almost unused by me), but the neck and middle pickups deliver a rich, full sound, but still aren't convincing me too much. Another little flaw i discovered, is the nut. When you get the guitar, the slots are just big enough to fit in the strings that were set on it originally, so that's gonna need some work because i fitted some bigger strings. This causes it to get out of tune constantly. The tuning pegs are another little flaw, but its ignorable. For the rest, i've thrown with it(you'll call me crazy, i know) when i was mad at a friend, and all the damage i could discover was a little gap in the painting. So the guitar is incredibly durable as well

my conclusion; this guitar is great when you know a bit about guitar, and you are fine with managing some problems. Its a great guitar for beginners as well and plays a lot better than some 2000 dollar Fenders i have played. But if you want a great guitar that without further adjustment can be played out of the box, i would look at the higher priced affinity series.
I'm mostly curious about the tremalo. It looks like a Floyd single locking, but I can't tell, and the websites don't say if it's licensed or a real Floyd, or a standard 6 point strat trem. It's hard to tell when it's a black trem on a blacked out guitar.
POSTED: 02/16/2012 10:37am

Way too much. Throw an extra 50 bucks and get a regular scaled squier.

I have the bullet strat as my backup guitar. I got it as a gift that I wanted to customize. This guitar is a crappy beginning 100 buck guitar and that is literally all it's good for. The reviews that say this guitar "plays like a dream" obviously don't play anything else on a consistant basis, or have a good amp that would show it's flaws. It is OK and a decent backup. But for the love of god, don't play this thing on a stage, and DON'T try to customize it. I tried and got so many headaches.
POSTED: 02/28/2012 06:48pm

This is my first guitar, and it was going really well, I were really satisfied with it. And when I tried it through a Fender 80s Super Reverb, I was astonished. It is all I needed at the time(it's still my main(and only) guitar). But then it came the time to play with my band live, at school. There was absolutely no problem wot the guitar, until I started playing a Californication intro jam. At the 1st note, the electronics were totally f*** up, and then, there was a bizarre noise coming out of the amp(couldn't stand it at all..) I though it was the distortion pedal I had borrowed from a friend, but then, while at the chorus of Getting Away with it(James) when I had unpluged the pedal, as the song needs no distortion(the sound didn't improve at all), that you couldn't hear the guitar AT ALL. There was no sound coming of the cabinets....Let me note again that it didn't have any problem till that moment....Why GOD, why?? Don't play it live, unless it's a backup. And check ALL the electronics before, oh and also blow it to clean the inside.
POSTED: 03/08/2012 04:32pm
