I just bought an AVT50H and am very satisfied. The clean channel is very nice and the OD channel really rocks. A lot of people say that it sometimes doesn't really suit certain styles of rock. I've been playing for 40 years and in the 70's had a Marshall MKII 50 watt head. It was awesome and developed("My Sound) with this amp. I can duplicate (My Sound) quite well with the AVT50. I am very satisfied with the sound and price of the AVT50H. Those that say you can't get a good sound with the AVT 50 must be usinf a cheap guitar with crappy pickups.Iused to have an MG100HDFX (A real POS) but I was able to some killer toneout of it tobad it kept cutting out at practice and at gigs.
POSTED: 05/10/2006 06:41am

To gjmmh123. You bet this amp in loud enough to gig with. I played a street dance on 7/29/06 and my sound tech asked me to turn down and I was only on 3 on the volume knob. I had it miced through the PA and it was redlining on the board.
POSTED: 09/04/2006 12:22pm

Question,im still in the planning stage of course, but Im saving up my money for a pro level rig, haha, there's still a long way to go of course, but i just need to check, which is better of the two, should i get a Hughes and Kettner Trilogy + Marshall 1960A 4X12 setup or the Marshall AVT50H Stack set up? Obivously the latter is more affordable, but between the two,is the sound quality as good as the other or am I better off saving a little more for the hughes and kettner setup? Some one please help! Thanx =)

To syafig, what did you decide on. I've been playing guitar for 40 years and due to the shortage of cash I went with the AVT50H with an Marshall MG412A cab. For what I spent I'm very satisfied. This rig ROCKS!!!! I have a vintage Gibson 335S Custom Firebrand guitar.
POSTED: 09/12/2006 06:37pm

I personally don't think that it is. I've gigged with it in a few pub and you have to have it on about 9 or 10. Bearing in mind these were small venues that didn't have a big crowd. If you wanted to play bigger places then you'd definitely havemic it up.

I just bought an avt150h because i'v found that this amp isn't as loud as I'd like it to be

However, if you're in a 3 piece and you're the only guitarist then yeah I guess it should be loud enough. But if your competeing with another guitarist and if your a lead guitarist like myself you want to be heard and you don;t want to have a horrible muddy sound. Therefore I wouldn't recommend it if you were serious about gigging.
For practices its fine though

I recently found this amp for 200 dollars at a guitarcenter. It is in great condition! I could not pass that deal and had to buy it. Last night it has arrived to my home and i get to play it today. I have a 2005 Gibson LesPaul studio fitted with a Super distortion in the bridge. I also have a Bc rich nt series wave with a tone zone in the neck and super 2 in the bridge. I can't wait to try these out with this amp! I just have one question. Would the avt50h be considered a Hybrid amp?
POSTED: 09/15/2009 10:01am

This amplifier is great! When cranked up to about 5. The gain and tone just pour out like a true marshall should. With the right pups and the right guitar, you may get the sound you've been looking for. Not a waste of money. I upgraded from a mg series stereo 100 watt combo. And this head just blew it away.
POSTED: 09/17/2009 11:05pm

I just picked this amp up a few days ago at a pawn shop. It was kind of burried amoung severalll other amps so I don't think anyone could really see it! (Owner told me it had been hiding there for over three years (you couldnt see the amp unless you really looked!) Got him down to $200 from his asking $250. I have been playing for over 30 years and have been through the classic rock, hair-band glam, heavy thrash-type metal, punk, and the Vai\Satriani phases throughout my years (im 42 - God, where did the years go?!) I've had all the amps and pedals, and have had more guitars than I can remember (I now have 2 Les Paul Customers, and a Studio, 2 Fenders (US sunburst Strat and a Jaguar), an ESP (for my Vai/Satriani urges), a "Frankenstein" that i built withguitar that I built with a buddy (hes a guitar tech at Guitar Center), and the first real guitar I ever bought back in 1985 (a white Charvelle with a shi**y Khaler wham bar and Jackson pickups). I have collected many amps from Fenders to Vox, and Randall to Peavey and Crate. Okay, I do have. A point to all of this nostalgic stroll down hay-day memory lane... I was blown away by this AVT50 amp! I was very sceptical about the whole tube/solid state thing. And I have become somewhat of a tone FREEK, so needless to say, I had my doubts about this amp. What an amazing surprise!! I played in bands back in college and grad school - nothing big, but we had a few people that came to see us, so that and just playing and being in a band was such a great expedience!! Im now 43 as I mentioned earlier in my rambling, and have a "career", so I have 2 kids that are my life, so I play yto crowds of screaming fans only in my head now. But that doesnt stop me from my pseudo obsessive hobby of guitars!! Sorry, back to the AVT... I was impressed with the tone of this sleeper of an amp! So, im in this Slash/Myles Kennedy phase - if you like G
POSTED: 12/26/2012 12:31pm
