I can't believe that the employees at the guitar store said the 15G was the best I could get for 90 dollars. I sounded good to me at first, as I was a otal guitar noob, but I've progressed a ton and also discovered there were better amps out there for 90 dollars. Sad... Great distortion, but other than that, this thing is a nice looking box of trash.
POSTED: 06/20/2006 01:25pm

this amp is terrible
the distortion is terrible, and does make an annoying hissing sound, but there is no noise gate
when you get to about 2 on the volume it is really loud, then when you go past 2 it hardly gets louder
i play metal, and if you do too and are thinking about getting this, dont, trust me
the distortion on this thing uninspires me cause it sounds like shit
the clean channel is decent

my recommendation, spend more and get a different amp
POSTED: 06/20/2006 04:21pm

i must agree really, it's not the most amazing amp ever, but it's only a 15 watt practice amp so you're not really going to use it at a gig but if you get the squier strat pack (like i did) then it's not so bad. the hissing noise is quite annoying but like i say, you wouldn't use it at a gig anyway.
unless you want some super fuzz though, don't set the gain at 10. that's my advice.
oh, and don't but it unless it's in a set. get a marshall or peavey or something instead.
POSTED: 06/20/2006 04:42pm

Ive got this amp too, man, it is a pain. it gives me that buzzing rot, and it just suddenly buzzes really loud and i have to jiggle the lead in the amp input to stop it. seriously a shocker. i giged with it once, NEVER AGAIN. it was feedbacking so bad so i dont reccomend u buy this. the only thing its real good for is playing louder than u expect.
POSTED: 06/20/2006 11:14pm

I will actually admit that I own this amp. I'm poor and need my first amp, so I got it at NY Music($50).

Thankfully the buzzing sound stopped about a week after I bought it. It's really bland and the clear channel is terrible. However, if you set the distortion right you can get a nice sound from it. Personally I like to add a little feedback to a song every now and then, and it's really easy to get it with this amp.

Too bad this amp sucks. So much I wrote my review in the comments section. 1* just for the distortion.

Don't buy it. Please.
POSTED: 10/31/2006 08:24pm

this is my first amp. it is pretty cool, i guess. im not complaining. im glad i have one. i think it sounds alot better when you plug in headphones. you can get better pinch harmonics that way... but its pretty hard. there needs to be an 11 on gain or something. 10 does not fufill my insatiable taste for distortion. im getting a bad-ass metal distortion pedal soon so i guess that doesnt matter
POSTED: 05/28/2007 11:48pm

Get an adapter (probably got one for headphones :p: ) and plug in the wire youll find at the back of ur comp speakers (two ends that can both plug into ur mp3)
plug one of those into the mp3 and another into the input
It's great if you're on a budget or if you're a beginner and just wanna get a bit of practicing done, but of course I'd advise a better amp for band practices or whatever. It will buzz sometimes but if you take good care of it, it can really take a beating.
POSTED: 08/23/2007 07:58pm

you guys are all morons. i got mine from American Musical Supply. ive had it for eight months now and its completely fine. try swithcing your cord if you get crackly noise. mine is completely silent. the distortion DOES get heavier after the number five, and ill admit, the clean, is a bit dull. but i play mainly heavy rock and metal, but everything else rock-wise i play (pretty much any song on guitar hero 2) sounds great. and invader jim is right. you get what you pay for.
POSTED: 08/28/2007 01:27pm

I got this amp in the Squier starter set.

Sure, it has a little hum noise, "crackings" and "hissings" but you can live with them.

I tested many amps in the same watt/price range, and this one doesn't let you down. It's sturdy and reliable. Extremely versatile.

The sound quality isn't perfect, but you can easily get that "classic rock" sound and feeling when you're playing, even with the drive effect off.

I always play with my Squier Affinity Series Stratocaster, and i just bought a Boss MD-2 Mega Distortion effects pedal.
The sound you can get out of this little amp... Amazing!

You should buy this amp in two situations:
- it's your first amp;
- you need a second, little amp.
If you are experienced and need a main amp, don't buy this one. But don't diss it if you do. You aren't being deceived by anyone -- neither Fender nor the store.
POSTED: 09/15/2007 10:10am

I think that most people who have this had it with the strat pack when they were beginners. It sounds decent at first, and you feel cool playing it when you first start out, but you'll soon realize how crappy this amp is. I've had it for over a year, and I've become decent at playing, and I always get discouraged when playing through this because it sounds so bad. The lows sound decent, but the highs and mids are terribly awful. I have a Jackson RR3 now, and I play it through this amp, and the sound is still awful. I seriously need to buy a better amp, and so does everyone who has this who has it for a while.
i wouldn't consider it much of an upgrade going from one 15w SS amp to another. in fact, you might as well not even "upgrade" to another SS amp, because you won't gain anything. you'll only want to replace it very soon. look into a small, low end tube amp. much better than SS.
POSTED: 03/02/2009 07:27pm

i had this amp for about 5 years already and this amp is awesome considering how much i paid for it. It has everything a beginner student should need. i prefer using it with gain at 10 and drive channel at 2 or 3 and my guitar at 10. it has an awesome tone at that level. Oh you if you get feed bacc from your amp like a noisy sound than it isnt the amp's fault its your pickups.
POSTED: 03/24/2009 10:02pm

This amp has relatively good distortion for its price, if you know how to tweak it right. My advice: don't go up all the way with the EQ its gonna sound like crap. For hi-gain metal, I basically have the gain at 10 and the bass at 2, and tweak the treble and mids depending on what I'm playing. But I never go above 6 or 7 with either.

Its a great practice amp, lasted like 3 years for me before the clean channel went kaput. but i never used that channel anyways, i just cranked the drive volume and turned the gain all the way down.

That doesn't mean its better than all the other amps in the world, quite the contrary. It's a good value for money
POSTED: 11/23/2009 03:20pm

i ripped the front cover off of mine so i can see the speaker. i plan to assualt it with a screwdriver or something to get free fuzz distortion! anyone know any where u can find info about ppl modding these? they are rubbish standard and i thot someone must know how to morph it so its acceptable. i find its only use is to impress stupid people who think it ruls because its a fender. also i have tried plugging this thru a marshall MS-2, the mini pocket size one. with this as the first amp the ms2 distorted at basically no volume and the other way round i had to turn everything up to ten on the drive channel to hear it. ive also tried putting one of these thru another and it doesnt seem to do anything. i was hoping for a cheap 30 watt but it didnt work

you don't stage a 15 watt through a 2-3 watt amp if you want the 2-3 watt to come out unscathed...
POSTED: 08/04/2010 10:16am

My guitar is a Ibanez Gio, which doesn't suck that much, but it still sucks, the amp was new for only 85$: the amp,the guitar, the gigbag and the tuner. It was a pretty good deal, i started playing it and a couple days ago the amp just strated making this weird noise and it wont stop doing it, i hate it, now i wasted my money, i learned my leason, next time go with either the peavy or the line 6.
POSTED: 07/02/2011 10:16pm

THIS IS A SHOUT OUT TO ANY BEGINNER GUITAR PLAYERS WHO LIKE ROCK AND HEAVY METAL. If you know you can spend a decent amount of cash, look online at your local online classified adds, people have tons of amps and guitar for cheaper than retail. A good amp for you thats cheap is a peavey vypyr, I have the 60 watt version, it has a tube feel and has an overdriven channel with a tubescreamer to satisfy your hi gain needs. I have been playing for almost 2 years and it does the job to be honest. they're about 200-300 online and 500 msrp. You can also try a Line 6 spyder if you want but I warn you, youll hate them soon, they are cheap too, but NEVER BUY A MARSHALL MG. Also don't buy a strat hoping to sound Mark Morton, look at any used Ibanez or Jackson guitars with EMGs or Dimarzios or Duncans, they are great for beginners. Online you could find them for like 200-500 which is something you should do trust me itll save you in the long run!! Hope this helps! keep it metal\M/
POSTED: 07/31/2012 11:20am
