pretty poor review imo, a guitar will only be good to you if you're good to the guitar, looks after it and you'll get great results! you can get rid of the fret buzz by altering the truss road, changing the action or having your frets re dressed or changed. if thats a problem with you then why buy the guitar in the first place

lets be honest, no guitar comes from the factory set up exacly how you want it!

none the less when i brought my 62 hotrod strat, it was setup fine, but had to be reset because it came with 9's and i play 11's and i like high action.
POSTED: 03/06/2009 12:45am

Fenders are usually set up pretty well at the factory, but it's pretty hit-or-miss depending on how busy the workers are that day, and how cold it is when they ship.

For the record, I rated this guy an 8, based on my experience. I very strongly recommend installing a Seymour Duncan tiny humbucker the the little '59 in the bridge and rewiring the S-switching to turn on the middle and neck pups for maximum versatility, but that's kind of a pain in the ass. I have a similarly wired guitar I used with my Tiny Terror and it sounds awesome, but that's just the sound I like.

This is one of the better strats out there, but it's very much a strat, and doesn't appeal to everyone, hence my 8. With a mediocre setup, I'd go 7.
POSTED: 03/06/2009 01:09am

Hey,

I've got an American Deluxe HSS and my neck pickup also went bad.

I'm not sure if it's the cold soldering or if a coil broke, but the pu works most of the time and only loose the sound from time to time (mostly on very hot days). Anyway, when I tap it gently it comes back to life.

Are these symptoms similar to what you're getting before fixing the cold joint?
POSTED: 03/06/2009 11:13am

Difference? Lets see...pots, switch, wiring, pickups, bridge, saddles, nut, tuners, better wood selection on both body and neck, once piece neck, rolled fretboard, satin neck, contoured heel, micro-tilt neck, better finishing and detailed fret and nut work.

I have a MIM ash HSS strat. It is a nice little guitar and a joy to play. Compared to my deluxe v-neck it leaves much to be desired. There is no comparison. The build quality and playability are no where near equal.

And no they are not both made by Mexicans. Not sure it that was meant to be a racist jab or not. Either way ignorant thing to say.
POSTED: 07/09/2011 04:27pm
