Thats crap, some of the biggest names in rock play schecters and they are excellent guitars for metal and hard rock. I own one with a red finish and it gets the job done. I wasnt too impressed with the standard pickups they come with but I customised it with Duncan Detonators, and holy shit it made a difference. Great guitar to customize.

Good for people starting out, good for modding....but not good if you wanna sound like Slayer or Pantera. Period.

Not in my experience dude. I chain this through a DigiTech Hardware Metal pedal, and I can get almost perfect Slayer tone :3

All in all one of the best starter guitars out there. I've had mine for close to 4 years now and I haven't had a single problem with it (aside from cleaning the finish regularly)

I sold it a couple years ago, and I regret it now. Very good guitar for the price you pay for it. I'd put it up against any other guitar out there in the $300 price range and have every expectation that it would hold its own in any comparison you care to make.
