Sick guitar, as expected from PRS, but two notes for you. When you write a review, please, for the love of a mother, spellcheck it. And two, never put tickets on yourself. You automatically discredit whatever you say.
POSTED: 03/12/2010 12:10pm

... you don't buy a guitar to simply sound great. You buy it to feel great, playing it happily because it plays well, feels well and is well.

Give the guy a break. Maybe he is quite contented with his Line 6. Don't make assumptions about him or his playing.
POSTED: 03/12/2010 01:41pm

Best stick with one, its a floating tremolo remember so if you drop tune or up tune it, your gonna but some unwanted tension and youl get out of tune a lot, who knows, I wouldn't try it anyhow... Ha...try playing a with a floating trem and drop the 6th string a full step, it will put everything completely out of tune...I mean if you intend on moving from a standard tuning to a drop tuning with a FR either
a. block the trem
b. get a tremol-no and set it to dive only
To address everyone commenting on the amp i use i dont see why, its not like i didnt try it out on sick amps at the store. Regardless of this fact, its exactly how AngryGoldfish put it --> it feels incredible and i just have no further words to describe it fine i played it at home out of a shitty amp. who cares, it plays amazing. I reviewed the guitar not my freaking amp.
POSTED: 03/12/2010 04:32pm

That may be the case, but your amp has as much to do with the sound as the guitar. If its through a bad amp, then we're obviously gonna be skeptical and think low of it.
POSTED: 03/12/2010 04:50pm

Wouldn't get worked up about it all, like you said you reviewed the guitar, not the amp. You'll find lots of band wagons around here and it's always the pot calling the kettle black. Nothing wrong with what you did.
POSTED: 03/12/2010 06:10pm

They're famed for having ungodly huge neck heels. The way they contour their lower cutaways can make for more comfortable upper-fret access, but it's the heels that have always been a problem.
POSTED: 03/12/2010 09:22pm

Ah, cmon man, the Opeth "O" has to be the most beautiful symbol that a band has ever used. That said, I would have two problems with that logo on my guitar:
a) By blatantly displaying that you have a Mikael Akerfeldt guitar, you a drawing a comparison between yourself and him. And everyone comes off worse when compared to Mikael "OIS-HE-GOD?!" Akerfeldt.
Don't get me wrong, Opeth happens to be my favorite band right now, and has been for a while, and I do love their symbol. But it just looks...out of place there. And I also like clean aesthetics, I wouldn't want any band's logo there.
POSTED: 03/13/2010 03:40pm

I agree. When I started playing 4 years ago, the guy at guitar center talked me in to getting one of these things. I think most beginners use it cuz its cheap. Granted there are better amps for around the same price. But I thought it was a really good amp for the first year or so. But as I developed a better taste in amps I realized the spider 3 had a really artificial sound. Plus my friend started playing about a year after me, and he got one of these things too, so when we were playing on the "insane" setting together, I realized we sounded exactly the same, even though I was playing with a Dean and he had an epiphone.
POSTED: 03/13/2010 05:16pm

Terrible review, but a decent guitar. I had loan of one of these the other week so I had a chance to run it through my 6505+ and 333xl and a Jazz Chorus 60 for a while. It's fantastic aesthetically and plays very nicely too, but it's just got no character of it's own, it sounds very similar to an ESP or LTD Eclipse or just about any other mahogany/EMG combo. Other PRS models are easily capable of metal so I'm not sure why they bothered bringing this one out, there's nothing new except the Floyd, neck thru and stock EMGs, none of which are really anything to get wet about. All the while I was playing it I had this feeling that it was trying to be an Ibanez, the neck has a slightly flatter profile than other PRS'. Not worth the current price tag, would be a nice buy at maybe two thirds of what it costs though
POSTED: 03/13/2010 10:12pm

Peaveys and Marshals suck lol, most overrated amps on the planet. Ive been playing for 8 years, i play through a Soldano SLO 100 with a 4x12 cab and i use Gibsons and ESPs. Beautiful guitar, mediocre review. I don't want to be a "zomg yew used a line6" fag, but if you're going to drop $1000 on a guitar, I'd suggest getting a better amp. And I highly doubt you shred well after playing for 2 years. Just sayin'.

I blocked the trem one way and kept the tension enough to keep the bridge against the block in Standard, so it's a breeze changing tuning and drop tuning now. To change tuning I have to undo the locking nuts, but for drop tuning, I just leave enough slack in the low fine tuner to drop the string.
POSTED: 06/26/2010 05:18pm

Peaveys and Marshals suck lol, most overrated amps on the planet. Ive been playing for 8 years, i play through a Soldano SLO 100 with a 4x12 cab and i use Gibsons and ESPs. I love PRS guitars but im not going to trust a 2year player who uses a Line6, weathered players all get over all those flashing coloured light Line6 and Ashton'ish crappy modeling amps.

awesome guitar, I've had it for 4 months now, and I couldn't be happier. right now run it through "POD FARM 2" mostly(with a bose & sony hybrid sound system and hopefully a Vypyr Tube very soon too)) and the guitar sounds amazing it handles all styles I throw at it. I play mostly of Kutless, Starflyer 59, Emery, Anberlin, Blindside, Project 86, Pink Floyd, TFK, and so on. This is my second guitar with a floyd rose yes it is a pain to tune but it stays put once your dialed in. The EMG's are very responsive and very versatile with just a flip of the blade and a little knob turning. I find they sound better than my duncan 57's/dimebuckers in my washburn which is a surprise, its like going from mono to 5.1 lol (from what I've found the 9V battery lasts about 500 hours of playing) This is my first go with a PRS and I am very pleased with it, no complaints, well one I need a second Torero (blue to go with my black cherry) so I don't have to fight with the floyd rose get go Drop D lol. It was a steal at $880 cdn
POSTED: 03/05/2011 04:35am

I find it so very stupid how people thrash line 6. If you guys don't like it then WHO GIVES?? Its your opinion...and I would take my vetta....or my SPIDER (OMFG WHAT???!) Over your crap anyday. I can't believe that the first comment on this review had to do with him mentioning line 6. Wow. This is a freaking review for a guitar. I wish I could kick everyone in the ass. Point is, is that I can play what your playing...on my amps...and I can get the sounds I want...and that I desire so I'm happy. I own a vetta hd, flextone hd, and a line 6 spider iii hd150. All line 6...and I have no problems....everyone is stupid.

A lot of Line 6 amps are modelling amps which mask the actual tone of the guitar hence why a review becomes obselete if it mentions that the guitar has been played through a Spider or something of thelike. You can play a £50 guitar through it and it'd sound very similar to a £1000 guitar played through it.
POSTED: 08/30/2011 10:21am

Beautiful guitar, mediocre review. I don't want to be a "zomg yew used a line6" fag, but if you're going to drop $1000 on a guitar, I'd suggest getting a better amp. And I highly doubt you shred well after playing for 2 years. Just sayin'.

Line 6 kicks ass if you are using something other than a low priced model. The POD series has major tone and if you don't believe me, listen to Chimp Spanners "At The Dreams Edge." That's an XT or X3 I believe.

Also... you can easily learn how to shred in 2 years. It's called practice.
POSTED: 08/30/2011 12:33pm
