Regarding the volume thing, and I read a few sources saying that's actually a fault and there's a mod you can do to get more output.
POSTED: 07/08/2010 07:37am

With a high-gain tube amp like this the whole wattage thing affects the output volume a lot less than you'd expect, and has a lot more to do with tonal characteristics. Obviously, a 100-watt tube stack is louder than a 5-watt 1x10" combo, but for instance, the difference in volume between a 100-watt tube head and a 50-watt version of the same amp is quite small.
POSTED: 07/08/2010 05:21pm

I would like to get one of these, they seem like they sound great.
Steve Vai, Jason Becker, Marty Friedman, and Suicidal Tendencies all used these.
POSTED: 10/17/2010 09:28am

I own an old 1986 X-100B, it made some of my Marshall/ Mesa-Boogie cork sniffing buddies respect this amp, because back then it was pretty much their equal ... but at a much lower price. I tried a new used one and it was like mine when it was new, some different modifications were done, like the switches they have now, on mine it was the push / pull pots. Just remember this is a medium gain amp. With the right power conditioning, a noise gate on the pedal board in the front of the amp and another noise gate in the effects loop and Sonic Maximizer this or any amp will sound all sooo good. To push this amp with the digital 32 band Eq, you can have any sound you like : Thrash, Speed Metal, Blues, 80's "Hair Metal" or Classic Rock.
POSTED: 06/07/2012 03:28am

Righteous, I'm getting an 84' for $250 with the footswitch! I'm ****ing stoked, they say this is the very amp that Steve Vai used on Passion and warfare!
From what I understand with a sonic maximizer this thing will have limitless capabilities and ungodly power.. but through a Line 6 cab.. we shall see.
POSTED: 01/07/2013 04:28am
