the guitar tone isn't as massive as it was on homesick, and the 808 has been turned down a lot on this record. still stupidly catchy though on all the tracks. i prefer the tones and breakdowns on homesick but this is way more catchier
POSTED: 11/16/2010 08:26am

This album has been way too heavily produced and you can not hear the guitars as prominently as the first two albums they produced. I reckon they should have used a different producer as Chad Gilbert is great at punk but is not a mosh heavy idealist, heaps of the heavy parts sound very electronic to be as precise as possible. Don't get me wrong this is a great album but it won't play great live at all due to the production. Hardcore music should have very little overdubbing and slap backs as possible to capture the essence of the emotion.
POSTED: 11/16/2010 08:44am

How does "I don't like the song names" serve as a basis on how good the band is? What would that make Pink Floyd or Beck?

Hardcore bands these days are always getting negative reviews. They're not your typical metal sure, but that doesn't mean they make awful music. A day to remember has been awesome since day one. I still have yet to listen to this album though.
POSTED: 11/16/2010 09:28am

Unique? It's just generic post-hardcore. Sounds like the poster has never even heard of the genre. Quite normal band.. except there's barely any heavy parts in this piece of shit album. Total sellouts. There's like three heavy songs and that's it. Nothing unique or interesting about the album at all. It's crap.
POSTED: 11/16/2010 09:56am

It's an okay album, I just find it incredibly boring compared to Homesick and FTWHH. I get the feeling that they're going through the motions of their sound, and the song writing's not nearly as interesting as it's been in the past.
POSTED: 11/16/2010 10:29am

"One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument."

Saying ADTR sucks on a review populated almost entirely by ADTR fanboys fits that pretty nicely.

You're obviously not the audience, and you're not giving an explanation for why you dislike the music--you're just being a jackass for the sake of trying to demonstrate how awesome you think your music taste is.
POSTED: 11/16/2010 11:43am

It's an okay album, I just find it incredibly boring compared to Homesick and FTWHH. I get the feeling that they're going through the motions of their sound, and the song writing's not nearly as interesting as it's been in the past.

No, you're not the only one. I was pretty disappointed when I listened to this album. Compared to Homesick and FTWHH, this is a pretty bland and boring album in my opinion. The first track sounded promising and reminded me a bit of Heartless, and I was excited in thinking the rest of the album would be just as good. But every song after that was just kind of "eh..." with the exception of the tracks the second review mentioned. Now don't get me wrong, I still like ADTR. I'm just not as impressed with this album than I was with the other albums.
POSTED: 11/16/2010 11:54am

very true =) I'm a true fan and no matter how they change their sound I will always love them. I agree that the screams are a little overproduced but then again Jeremy has been doing this for awhile =P my only worry is that they will get too big for small venues =/
POSTED: 11/16/2010 11:55am

You should really look up the definition of internet troll. Really.

"One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument."

Saying ADTR sucks on a review populated almost entirely by ADTR fanboys fits that pretty nicely.
Well okay cry baby, I'll give this a go. They blend two of the most generic genres - Pop Punk and Metalcore - and fans pass it off as this great original concept. I don't dislike ADTR, but don't act like their literal shit is gold and they walk on water, they're just as blatantly generic as any other band, they just know how to blend generic genres well. There are trolls for every band, get the **** over it (because generally that's a good thing, as they must have some kind of success to garner not only fans but trolls).

I haven't heard this album yet, but I will at some point this week when I have more time, but I thought that while Homesick had a good song or two, the whole album was what I expected, and that's not a very good thing.

Also, lawls at trying to sound heavy by de-tuning what was a shitty riff to begin with, come on ADTR, you know better!
POSTED: 11/16/2010 12:02pm

This album has been way too heavily produced and you can not hear the guitars as prominently as the first two albums they produced. I reckon they should have used a different producer as Chad Gilbert is great at punk but is not a mosh heavy idealist, heaps of the heavy parts sound very electronic to be as precise as possible. Don't get me wrong this is a great album but it won't play great live at all due to the production. Hardcore music should have very little overdubbing and slap backs as possible to capture the essence of the emotion.

that has nothing to do with production. thats actually mixing.
POSTED: 11/16/2010 07:01pm

dude i totally agree. This album is great, but it's not A Day to Remember. They've made much better stuff than this. It's just a fact of music I guess, once bands start to taste the money they slowly become more and more mainstream. It's really upsetting.

THE MOST IMPORTANT thing that ADTR fans new and old need to know about this album, is that if you read the inside booklet (which most people will never see cause they illegally download everything), you will see that Kevin Skaff and Jeremy wrote almost ALL of the music on this CD.

The only exceptions are 2nd sucks and Ft Lauderdale, 2 of the standout tracks, which (to no surprise) were written by their ex guitarist Tom Denney and producer Chad Gilbert. so OBVIOUSLY guys, its gonna sound different with Kevin Skaff writing most of it, look at 4 letter lie compared to ADTR.
They blend two of the most generic genres - Pop Punk and Metalcore - and fans pass it off as this great original concept.

Who does that? I know tons of ADTR fans, but nobody thinks they're revolutionary.

And only modern metalcore is generic. Don't slag off the entire genre just because you haven't heard anything pre-2005.

"One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument."
Saying ADTR sucks on a review populated almost entirely by ADTR fanboys fits that pretty nicely.
Unique? It's just generic post-hardcore. Sounds like the poster has never even heard of the genre. Quite normal band.. except there's barely any heavy parts in this piece of shit album. Total sellouts. There's like three heavy songs and that's it. Nothing unique or interesting about the album at all. It's crap.
Also, since most of you obviously don't know the difference between Hardcore and Metalcore(yes there is a difference) how do you have a right to judge this music. This album was okay at best. A few good songs but most are forgettable.
Nafon - go back to listening to fallout boy
Tapping Ninja - they never had metalcore, just because there is screaming does not make it metalcore, and Heartless will always be there heaviest.

A Few Points About The Album And My Favorite Band...

This is a good album. Certainly ...And Their Name Was Treason was all Hardcore headbanging that sucked us into ADTR. For Those Who Have Heart is w/o a doubt their best album because it is. Homesick is insane though, and I think it kicks ass. This is a mix of things. Its good. Not every song needs to be screaming and the same 4 chords over again because thats not music. Very different and spread out. 8/10 stars.

People who think Homesick is the best are either little kids or losers. Listen to some real ADTR. However like I said before, most of that shit is really heavy and full of singalong screaming and fist pumping headbanging shredding guitar. Homesick is my second favorite album.

fyi-Old Record sucks, its a re-release of And Their Name Was Treason. Stupid.

And I Love their acoustic songs. Just Saying.

They don't sound like Fallout Boy. FB is a gay girl pop band. This is awesome.

Insomnia69:The name was,not the real meaning of the song.

And btw:Alot of their stuff is very repetitive because i can play all their stuff on my guitar and its the same couple chords and riffs. And EVERY SINGLE BREAKDOWN IS THE C CHORD OR THE Bb CHORD. So thats dumb. They are heavy though.

Anything else I missed? Feel free to comment.

Yeah, that's exactly how I felt. I mean the first song made me feel like the album was gonna be mindblowing and then songs started getting more and more boring throughout the album. Even the closing track was ehh, I was expecting something up to par
with 'If It Means A Lot To You'.
Let's just hope this is their like, "experimenting" album, and that they go back to their FTWHH, Homesick sound
POSTED: 12/21/2010 08:59pm
