it works well with slide, i assure you. but you really want an extra guitar set up solely for slide if you can help it. with fatter strings and higher action. and if you are going to be kleeping it in open E tuning (a lot of slide players in cluding my self do) make sure its got a beefy neck to support the added tension.
POSTED: 08/15/2007 04:45pm

I've been gigging with this guitar as my primary for the last two years. I've had it intonated twice(just as precaution), have not replaced any stock gear other than the original strings (that's a given) and I have not touched the pickups. I have had not one problem to report. This thing has been a work horse. It is a light guitar which makes a 4 hour gig that more comfortable. The tone I get out of it cuts through the drums and bass guitar with ease. I am a minimalist when it comes to gear, I only use a Boss DS-1 for distortion and a tuner to a Rogue 100w 2x12 combo amp. So I'm not running any fancy effects relays etc. Definitely worth the $250, thinking about buying the black one to replace my current back up (an ibanez).
POSTED: 08/13/2008 02:42pm

Just picked one up last week. I'm impressed, especially for the price. Frankly, I like it better than my G-400 and my LP (so far), and I NEVER thought I'd say that about a Squier!!! Great tone, fantastic out-of-the-box action, worthless strings (oy...replace 'em asap!). Threw on some EB Coated 10s and it dramatically changed and improved overall tone. Tremolo went off to my parts drawer no sooner than I replaced the strings.

Still debating on whether to keep it or actually go with the Jag HH--don't confuse this with a Jag or Jazz. Looks aside, it's another beast, but a very worthy instrument from Squier (which is a rarity).
This one? I like it VERY much so far. It may be a keeper. 3-way selector is junk--replace immediately. Knobs are...kinda ugly. But these are minor complaints. I want to like this enough to not buy a Jaguar!
POSTED: 04/20/2009 02:39am

Decided to keep it. I picked up some black knobs and switch covers which really improved the overall appearance. I think I might do a SHPR-1 mod with push-pulls in the near future. If I don't like the results, I can always revert it to stock pups and stick the P90's in another guitar.
POSTED: 04/25/2009 09:41pm

they've released a classic vibe "duo sonic", which is the same body shape and similar pickups which should put you in the right direction, but I think its a bit different in design to a mustang (different bridge), but so is the jagmaster's!

I may have to get one of these...
POSTED: 06/15/2009 11:55am

I play all kinds of stuff from Weezer to Thrice, from what I heard this is a good guitar for classic/garage type rock with some overdrive. How do you guys think this would sound with some distortion, drop-d riffs going? I really like the looks of this guitar and am trying to figure out if it'll be suited to my needs.
POSTED: 04/17/2010 07:45pm

i am a college student and we just got together for a music band. we do have many low-end guitars here, but we need better ones now. i have finally decided to take either an ibanez sa260fm or a jagmaster. we are planning to record our songs, and so i wanted my guitar to be good sounding(maybe more deep sounding) and versatile, and i dont bother much about its looks or comfort, or even about reliability cause i expect myself to be very careful with it. the ibanez has two single coils and a humbucker, so it seems more versatile. any suggestion, please?
POSTED: 02/06/2011 01:03am

Brilliant guitar, only issues I've ever had were that the jack tends to work itself loose (easy to fix) and that the stock bridge pickup is a bit muddy - also an easy fix. Bridge is good, tuners are acceptable (not amazing but that's one of the things you expect to be less than stellar on a budget model). Frets/fretboard are the best I've ever played in this price range, so smooth and easy to play. Plus, the damn thing is so incredibly sexy. Buy this, you will never regret it.
POSTED: 09/05/2011 09:46pm
