The album as a whole is not great, I know they're trying to avoid the whole marshall amp thing but the rhythm guitar tone on this album really does not suit the vocals, it just needs to be a little bit more agressive and as it's over the whole album it really lowered my opinion of it. Still Rusty James is a great song.
POSTED: 09/24/2012 12:21pm

I really like this album but it's so top heavy it's unreal. The first 5 or 6 tracks are great, especially Stay The Night and Carpe Diem, but as the album goes on it seems to become more and more samey. Still, a nice return to form in general.
POSTED: 09/24/2012 01:08pm

What the **** is with their shitty cop-out album covers? 21st Century and this trilogy look like something done on MS Paint with a webcam photo. Also, it's funny that this is rated so high, mainly because the only people willing to write a review on it are people who love modern Green Day. I haven't met anyone in person who can say a single positive thing....I saw one of the music videos, and turned it off quickly. What are these 40 year olds doing with their lives? Cashing in on teenage angst. An honest opinion from a Green Day fan.
POSTED: 09/24/2012 11:45pm

This is the first Green Day album I've ever bought/listened to. I thought it was really good, there's only like, 3 songs I wasn't digging. And I thought it needed a bit more distortion, the guitars sounded a bit weak for my taste, but I'm not familiar with Green Days sound so I won't hate. Great album, great band.
POSTED: 09/29/2012 01:06am

To each their own. And personally, I think the majority of the As I Lay Dying fan base looks a lot darker than Green Day themselves. They're actually a whole lot of fun to watch live and the complete opposite of "emo." Not knocking on AILD, just saying...and Green Day is actually very musically talented, they just choose to keep it simple. The formula works: "keep it simple, stupid"
POSTED: 09/30/2012 01:37pm

My review of this album was based only on the first listen through. I've listened to it a few more times and it's growing on me. Kind of needs to be acquired. Nuclear Family is incredible, Stay the night has great verses, Carpe Diem is alright but not really my cup of tea on the melodies. Let yourself go is punky which I love. Kill the DJ is funky as hell, and it's very good. After that no songs really impress me other than Rusty James and I guess Oh love. So yeah. My review was a tad harsh. But I did feel let down on first listen.
POSTED: 10/02/2012 06:32pm
