From what I've heard, i'll definitely agree they haven't lost their touch or changed dramatically, which is pretty damn good considering the 20+ year gap.

Very honest review, thank you. I gave it a listen the week it came out and it wasn't for me, which is a shame, I wanted to love it - all music lovers crave a new album to love.

You hit the nail on the head though, it's not for everyone. I didn't get it but hats off to them for coming back after such a long time to make a great album for the fans that they seem to love.

It's a big component of many shoegaze bands (MBV in special) to let a wall of noise going on behind everything. They mix all the disorder and noise with beauty since day 1, dude. "Sounding like ass" is a matter of opinion, but it has a reason.

And what, you complain about low quality on a record... with a Metallica avatar.

I think your ears are broken. Or you just haven't listened to enough shoegaze so that you notice subtle changes and underpinnings.
