I have owned one of these things for a year now. I use it alot in the studio but not so much live. It takes alot of pre-gig time to get the eq's set and volume levels for each patch adjusted to the placetaht you are gigging at. I upgraded to the metal junkie fx pack and the gain is just flat out nuts on some of the amp models. If youre thinking of buying this piece of gear and think it will make that fender 15 watt practice amp scream like a full up mesa triple or a marshall JTM..it wont. You do have to have a decent rig to start off with. Alot of amps "color" the tone throughtheir peramps. If you have a pure tone then the models come out much clearer. I tried it on a fender FM212 and it still sounded like a crappy fenser FM212. Even this awesome processor couldnt help out that amp. It does sound better through a quality tube amp. Check out the atomic 18 watter. That amp is purposely built for modeling gear. I use mine through a modded peavey classic 30 pushing a 4 x 12 cab of celestions. It does the job. --Trollhack... you still need an amp to power your speakers. This board does act as a pre-amp but you need to power that cab. Try pure class a power for the best results.
POSTED: 09/29/2006 12:26am

I have a question, do any of you own a Spider II amp by Line 6? I have this multi effect pedal and a Spider II 212 and was wondering how I should set my settings up on the amp so I can get clear tones when I hook up the multi effect pedal.. I get this wierd feeling of the quality being reduced by like 50 kbps when I hook it up so I dont really use it anymore... I wouldn't mind if anybody knows stuff about both of these if they could help me out.

Hey guys, i'm in abit of a dilema between the Boss GT-8) and the Line 6 PODXT Live. I tried both, and love them but I feel the PODXT live could be better for adapting with live playing (more of what I do -like gigs and such). This is my first pedal and I would like to get some feed back =) It would be best if it wasn't biased for either pedal in particular. Thanks!
POSTED: 09/14/2007 09:55pm

Go for the POD XT live!!!
The modulations & effects are far much lesser than the GT 8 but the tone definitely rocks!!!
I'm using the XT live with a Jem 7V & i must say that the tone is just amazing...nothing to what i have played on in the past!!!
Also the GT -8 is far more complicated than the XT live....
Another advantage of the XT live is that u if ur too lazy to setup your own tone, there's a whole lotta tones out der on www.customtone.com for downloads which when tweaked sound almost like the original artists!!!
Also the XT live is fully upgradeable.....so you can have more amps, reverbs , wah's etc when line 6 releases them....
Wanna go in for more??? then go ahead & buy the model packs that best suit your need!!!
ROCK ON!!!
POSTED: 10/21/2007 03:29pm

I have found the best possible sound from a PODXTLIVE can be had by plugging directly into a powered full range speaker. I use a pair of Behringer B215A's for large venues and just one for small clubs. These speakers put out 400watts each and make the POD sound like God on a stick!!
POSTED: 07/01/2008 10:34am

This is too digital and once I bought it I discovered that I had only bought half the product, you have to pay for the good model packages online which are over-priced.... sucks balls

Ontop of that I also own the GT-8, Sure its a bit confusing at first but once you no how to work the thing you're in heaven.

Im never trusting line 6 again, its boss/roland all the way for me.
POSTED: 07/13/2008 04:55pm

Well I just got mine last night and was playing it till the Wee hours of the morning.
I personally LOVE this unit. If you have used any of the other products the learning curve is short. I was able to remove all the presets and customize 5 of the 32 banks. As I go I will be able to have my entire set-list into this thing!!! I really can't wait!!

For those that say it's too digital.... Well with Firmware 3 I really do not hear it. But that is OK stick with you GT-6 - GT-10 this is a far superior product.

This thing may not make you play guitar better but it does sound SWEET!!
POSTED: 09/01/2008 09:48am

You get 1 amp pedal, 2 stomps and a delay. Believe you get 2 pedals and a delay pedal at best. If you want anymore you have to change the presets. I personally am not a fan of the Line 6 lines. I'm not gonna say the same thing as everyone else and say lol too digital but the sound isn't as controllable as some of the amps I've played. Rolling up and down the drive knob and all the eq settings doesn't produce as much of a drastic change as what you would see on most amps. I own a Mesa 5:50 express now with a TS-9 analog pedal. With a boss metal zone and the ts-9 I'm pretty confident I can get any tone I want under the sun. No point in the other 20-30 other pedals that comes with the lin6. Most of the effects are pretty useless anyway, you'll just end up using the same 5-6 effects and the other 14 you paid for will be largely wasted.
POSTED: 09/08/2008 10:22am

The guitarist in my band uses one of these and he's absolutly blown away by this. He used it for recording our demo, and uses it to plug directly into a PA when we play shows. From what I experienced with this pedal, it is truly incredible. Although, I enjoy buying seperate pedals because I do not have the time or patience to set one of these up. I like sitting down, twisting 3 or 4 nobs and getting a sound I like in a matter of 5 minutes haha. But thats me. I'm a Boss pedal lover, yet, that Boss GT-8 stands no chance against the Line6PodXTLive.
POSTED: 09/08/2008 04:24pm

Quality piece of kit, can't fault it. I've played around with loads of stomps, multi effects etc over the years and this pisses all over them. If mine got nicked I'd buy another one tomorrow....

And those who say 'too digital', I can't say I agree with you. If you spend the time with it you can get it to do pretty much anything (tone wise, can't get it to make a coffee or walk the dog...obviously.) Anyway, I'd recommend it.
POSTED: 09/09/2008 04:26pm

Had mine for over a year now and have been plugging it into the front of my Fender Deluxe 1X12. So what I have done is take all the digital processing of this unit and run it into my preamp which processes it some more and give's me what is left over. Then I tryed the pre-out/Amp-in (EFX Loop). WOW! Big difference!!! The Warmth of my Carvin Bolt single coils came back, Chorus, Mod, Delays sounded the way they were intended, and distortion/leads are cleaner. That is why many swear by running it into a PA. This unit works best going directly into the AMP and bypassing the PreAmp thru your EFX Loop. If you use a seperate Wah, put that in line with your guitar into the main channel. Lessions learned...DUH! LOL
POSTED: 12/31/2008 08:53pm
