I am totally unhappy with the UV777. The pickups are Shit. I bought the guitar for recording Game/Film Soundtracks. I am running it into a Vox Tone Lab and the noise that comes from this guitar is pathetic.

Also, there is a very strange hum, reverberation that comes from the back cavity. If you tap the body of the guitar you can almost create a pitch. This additional noise is amplified when you are in the middle of a take and beating on the guitar.

I spoke with "Ive been had" (Ibanez) and their only answer was to "gate my signal" Is anyone using this guitar in a professional recording situation or just impressing their girlfriends with it?
POSTED: 04/27/2006 12:53am

One of the guitarists I've been playing with used this model, and it was really nice. No complains about it. There are better 7-strings guitar, but this one is an very good choice.
POSTED: 06/30/2006 04:58pm

idk, I like the look and the Dimarzios are possibly the best passive pups EVER, but Schecters are freaking amazing especially for the price(although the neck is like a baseball bat) and ESP has some great 7 strings. I mean again: the guitar is amazing but it's way overpriced.
POSTED: 10/15/2009 03:32pm

I don't own a Carvin, but I've played a few and they're great(especially since you get a custom guitar for only like 800-1200 bucks) so yeah Carvin's are actually better. Ibanez has some good, cheaper 7 strings(7321 is great as long as you change the pups, and they have a good S series 7 string) but Carvins are better cuz you can get them custom made for much cheaper.
POSTED: 10/15/2009 03:34pm

i got one of these new 2 years ago and out of the box i had to make a shim for the locking nut to fix the string buzz and the factory setup was pity poor but since then it has been a deasent player and a good head turner ant gigs granted its a expensive guitar and it wouldn't be to hard to get a cheaper rg7 and install new pups speaking of the blaze pups that it has fitted some will say that they sound bad well to them i say its your playing and your amp set up to blame i run mine threw a vox combo and it can fill a room with sound granted you have to adjust your ex to get the best out of the lower range with out killing the highs

I've bought a 1999 version of this guitar a couple of months ago for 800 bucks.. Totally satisfied with it. There was some noise from the spring-cavity, but I just put some cloth under the springs to fix that, there was some string noise from the nut when I did staccato chords, i fix that with tying a part of a shoe-lace around the headstock.

It plays great, sounds great, looks awesome.. but I would never have paid the regular retail-price for it. There's probably better guitars for the kind of money. Still though.. i have not found a guitar for 800 bucks that I like more than this one.
POSTED: 01/04/2013 08:32pm

If you're so unhappy with the reverberation that is created inherently from the springs on a floating bridge, and can't be bothered to gate your signal, try out a hipshot tremsetter. Should fix the 'verb issue. Either that or block the trem altogether. If you are going to be so picky about things that are inherent with a floating bridge guitar, than go with a fixed bridge model (my RG321MH is excellent)
POSTED: 01/13/2013 01:24pm
