Anthrax Frontman Set to Sing the National Anthem at Chicago Bulls Game
Anthrax vocalist Joey Belladona has been announced to perform the US National Anthem at the Chicago Bulls game over at the United Centre this Friday. The match will see the Bulls taking on their rivals from Orlando Magic, with the entire event set to take place on April 5 at 7 p.m. Although the singer's latest "Star-Spangled Banner" performance was met with poor reviews, Belladona will take on the not-so-easy task yet again. Back in 2004, his singing of the National Antgem at the Vikings vs. Hawks NFL game was described as "butchering" by the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "I knew it was going to be a screwy afternoon when the national anthem singer - a scraggly-haired relic from an '80s heavy metal band - butchered the words. And that's hard to do because they are displayed on the jumbo scoreboard," said the reporter. Anthrax are currently keeping themselves busy touring, with a set of confirmed tour dates stretching all the way to mid-August. Despite the tight schedule, the group is finding time to work on some new material as well, and is "getting the itch to write new music," according to bassist Frank Bello. Their latest release, "Worship Music," was released in September 2011 via Megaforce Records. With 28,000 units sold within the first week, the record debuted at No. 12 on The Billboard 200 chart.
