Anthrax's Ian Reacts to Grammy Nomination: 'I Didn't Even Know We Had Something That Could Be Nominated'
Reacting to Anthrax's latest Grammy Award nomination for their "TNT" AC/DC cover track, guitarist Scott Ian couldn't help expressing his surprise, admitting not knowing the band was even eligible for a Grammy run this year. "Someone sent an email I was copied on," Scott told Loudwire. "It came in kind of late at night. It was a random email. I was actually getting ready for bed and it said, 'Congratulations on the Grammy nomination.' I had no idea, no expectation. "I didn't even know we had something that was even able to be up for a Grammy this time around. [Laughs] I didn't really give it much thought at first, because I was literally going to bed. Then I woke up the next day to an inbox full of emails saying, 'Congrats on the nomination.' It was cool." Scott also expressed gratitude for the prestigious nomination, noting that "it always means something to me to be recognized. Regardless of the fact that I don't really give a s--t about what anyone thinks of what we do as a band, I care about the people who buy our records," he added. "I can't help but feel good about it and the fact that people are recognizing what we're doing two years in a row, we've got to be doing something right." Anthrax were nominated in the Best Metal Performance category along with Black Sabbath, Volbeat, Killswitch Engage and Dream Theater. Details below. Grammy 2014 Best Metal Performance Nominees "TNT," Anthrax "God Is Dead?," Black Sabbath "The Enemy Inside," Dream Theater "In Due Time," Killswitch Engage "Room 24," Volbeat featuring King Diamond
