David Lee Roth Plays an Assassin in Japanese Short Film
David Lee Roth fronted Van Halen, presented the breakfast radio, used to be a daredevil rock climber and revealed his "little Elvis" insured, but now he plays hitman in new Japanese short film, which makes the top of his strangest appearances ever.

The video, which can be seen in the player below, features the rocker as he interrupts a card game involving some tough local characters.

Initially clad in black with requisite dark glasses and leather gloves, the singer returns shirtless, takes a swig of one of the players' juice cartons and delivers a vengeful line. All dialog in the 5 minute clip is in Japanese, including Roth's single line: "In the name of the moon, I shall right all wrongs and defeat all evil."

As Billboard reports, the video is posted at Roth's YouTube channel as a trailer, but it has the feel of a complete short film.

"Roth gives us no information on the background of this video or what it is supposed to be," wrote the Van Halen News Desk, pointing out (via Ultimate Classic Rock) that one of Roth's co-stars is the well-known sumo wrestler Konishiki. "Knowing Dave, he probably did this video just for fun. We're not sure if there really is a longer version or not. Perhaps he'll elaborate on this 'trailer' in a future episode of 'The Roth Show.' Stay tuned."

Roth currently lives part-time in Tokyo, where he had started a radio show and packaged a Van Halen TV special.
