Matt Cameron Leaving Soundgarden Through 2014 to Focus on Pearl Jam
Drummer Matt Cameron of Soundgarden announced that he will be taking a year off from the band due to his obligations with Pearl Jam and the promotion of their latest effort "Lightning Bolt." "Hello Knights of the Soundtable faithful," Matt kicked off in an official website announcement. "I will be taking 2014 off from Soundgarden touring due to prior commitments promoting 'Lightning Bolt' with my brothers in Pearl Jam and the desire to have more time at home with my family. I am trying to balance the many twists and turns of my awesome music career." Cameron went on to reassure the fans about his position in Soundgarden. "This is temporary," he notes. "I am still an active member of Soundgarden. Chris (Cornell), Ben (Shepherd), Kim (Thayil) and I are in the process of finding the perfect substitute for the upcoming Soundgarden dates in 2014. Thank you all for listening and the years of support!" Matt's been playing in Soundgarden since 1986 and joined Pearl Jam in 1998, a year after Chris Cornell and co. went on over a decade-long hiatus. More info on the substitute drummer is expected to surface soon. The latest Soundgarden studio effort, "King Animal," dropped in November 2012 via Seven Four Entertainment.
