Slash Talks Film Production: 'Horror Movies Don't Get Oscars'
While discussing his upcoming horror movie "Nothing Left to Fear," legendary guitarist Slash also touched on the subject of the entire genre in general, stressing that horror films aren't exactly Academy Awards material. The axeman was initially asked by KROQ on whether he might make an appearance in the movie. After jokingly replying that he "couldn't act to save his life," Slash briefly addressed the prestigious awards, saying that "horror movies don't tend to get Oscars." The guitarist also talked about the movie soundtrack that he co-wrote and co-produced with Nick O'Toole, underlining the importance of having good music incorporated in the film in order to reach the "ultimate entertainment." "That's the part of the attraction," he kicked off. "The perfect movie-going experience is obviously the visual, but the marriage between the audio - the actual music - the two when they're combined and they actually work together is for me the ultimate entertainment. So being involved with the music was part of the turn-on of doing this." Both the film and its soundtrack are due on October 4. Apart from the film score, the record will also feature two additional tracks - "Nothing Left to Fear" featuring singer Myles Kennedy and the instrumental tune "Welcome to Stull." As far as the new Slash studio effort goes, the latest reports indicate that it should be out earlier next year. The latest Slash record, "Apocalyptic Love," saw its release in May 2012 as the guitarist's sophomore solo effort, debuting at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart with 38,000 units shipped in the US within the first week.
