Few people are born with a God-given musical talent. But most of us work at rehearsals before showcasing our "talent" to the world.
Not these guys.
This is a collection of the worst rock covers ever. Some of them just need more practise, some of them are having a bad day, and some just don't know when to quit music.
No one should be mean about young musicians trying to make a break for themselves, though we couldn't help but giggle at these clips.
Which are your favorites?
Europe - "The Final Countdown"
One of the best known examples of an awful rock cover.
The keyboardist and singer are on another level, and the guitar solo after 2 minutes is just tragic. Notice a guy walking off like "I'm outta here!" at 1:44.
Nirvana - "Smells Like Teen Spirit"
It's harsh to knock kids for covering Nirvana badly. We've all been there. This one is notable for the utter fail at 2:20, and for the singer's confident attitude in pure denial of their actual ability.
Pink Floyd - "Comfortably Numb"
Ever seen a band play live while having a collective stroke? Now you can. It's some of the laziest guitar playing you'll ever see. This could be a genius prank, because they have a lot of bad covers online - maybe it's all just a trick to earn a bunch of ad money? Not a bad idea, actually...
Guns N' Roses - "Sweet Child O' Mine"
How does this happen? I can understand people playing out of time, but this? Are humans even capable of this?
The Beatles - "Let It Be"
Not as lacking in talent as the other videos - this well-trained singer clearly has ability. It's just, those abilities don't include singing clearly in English. Poor guy. Worth watching for the utterly surreal vibe.
Red Hot Chili Peppers - "By The Way"
Cringe! The b-boy dancing at 20s will make you wince. Apparently the audience feel the same - they walk out in droves.
Bon Jovi - "It's My Life"
The best ones are when the singer score a 10 for passion and 0 for pitch. For want of a better phrase, this is a fine example.
Aerosmith - "Walk This Way"
No making fun here. We love the effort by these kids, and they know it's all about having fun. You can't expect too much from youngsters, but for awful covers, it makes the grade today.
Bonus: Death Metal Freejazz
Maybe this isn't bad. Maybe it's just a lightyear ahead of its time. Maybe we're just not ready for this kooky bunch. But is it worth watching? Definitely.
First off. This article is not 'News' even a little bit.
Second. I can't argue that this is a collection of terrible covers, but seriously? Give 'em a break!!!! Who cares? HOW IS THIS NEWS!!!??? WHY DID I READ THIS???

Man the Sweet Child O' Mine "cover" was probably the worst thing I've ever heard. I've jammed with players similar who lack basic rhythm and just seem to be in their own world when soloing while ignoring the other instruments but that was BAD.
The band that covers Comfortably Numb also has a totally shitty cover of Cocaine by Eric Clapton. Upon reflection, I'm figuring all of their covers suck ass.
Kudos for the red-shirt guy unplugging the amp at the 1:25 mark during the laughably awful Nirvana cover, especially since the guitarist didn't notice until 15 seconds later *facepalm*
All of these are horrible. I remember seeing this Heat of the Moment cover by this emo band a few months back. It was horrendously bad. The bass player was wearing a snuggie.

Now, I'm as down on the standard of journalism as the next guy, but it was pretty clear from the headline what this article was gonna be.
So, as you said, 'Why did you read this'?
If you're gonna get that annoyed at reading a list, don't click on a headline that's clearly a list.
Job done
I cringed through most of these because I can safely say I have played my fair share of shit shows with bad timing and sound, but I completely died laughing watching the
"Let it Be" one XD
The last one is interesting because they obviously know how to play their instruments, but they're trying to do some weird experimental stuff.
I can relate to this I'm surprised my old band's cover of "Slither" by Velvet Revolver isn't on here. Well, actually, it was in time, our singer was just bad.

They're called "Hush." Greatest solo ever. Blows Gilmour away...
Lou Reed guest stars in the Pink Floyd cover And what is up with the GNR guys? I could excuse the choppy guitar playing, but that bass player just butchered his part!
I was hoping this would be a list of actual bands that did horrible versions of other bands songs... this isn't even news, just a collection of youtube clips.
Fuck I'm sure half the musicians I know were better within a month of playing than the guys playing comfortably numb and sweet child. Whats wrong with the bonus? That shits legit lol
thanks U.G.now my rib cage is nearly broken from laughter and it's only friday ! i mean the weekend hasn't even officially begun yet! wait i'm going back to watch one more round of that awesome cover of comfortably numb. hahahahahahahahahahahaha..... that singer nailed it!

I saw a bass player butcher his part once. It was a messy stage...

I haven't laughed so hard at a UG article in a long time. Sure, it isn't technically news but it's better than the usual "Dave Grohl's top 10 sandwiches" or "Justin Beiber says he likes metallica" type stuff.

The guys that covered Pink Floyd are called "Hush", very appropriate, isn't it? Also, the sign behind them says "Music", how ironic is that?
With that said, check out some of their most recent videos. They have a new vocalist for quite some time now and they have actually improved!
PS: Damn, that Smells Like Teen Spirit cover is atrocious!
PS2: The Final Countdown one's too!
PS3: "... and I don't like the chef". Brilliant lyrics! God, that Death Metal Freejazz one sounds oddly similar to Lulu!
PS4: Forget it, the Sweet Child O' Mine one is the "best" of the bunch. Those guys clearly have talent. It's impossible to reach that kind of level at being so bad without it...
Yeah, the Sweet Child O Mine is fake. The guitarist can play the song from memory, including the solo when he's not noodling, and yet they still suck that bad? They just suck like a fox there.
I think some people are missing the point of this article. I found it to be inspirational. I have blown a song from time to time, but never like any of these examples. So, I am doing pretty good! Makes me want to play/ practice more. Oddly Inspired...lol
the kids who did the Aerosmith cover, didn't do to badly considering they're obviously really young, the drummer is pretty decent, as is the singer, the guitarist aint that bad either, out of tune, but that riff for someone that young to pull it off is pretty hard, my cousin can only just play it vaguely in time, not the right time mind and he's nearly 20. so credit where credits due to those kids, the rest though, who bought these morons instruments
The last song isn't even Death Metal. You want Death Metal freejazz? Cynic, Atheist. even Naked City. Ironically, none of these bands are free jazz. But they are Jazz Fusion Death Metal (except Naked City, they're Jazzgrind).
By the way, the Nirvana and Guns 'n' Roses ones made me cringe the most. I bet Axl's gonna sue 'em... Hey, maybe if we show the original lineup this video they'll feel compelled more than ever to reunite at the Rock HOF and play just to offset whatever it is I just watched.

Would you prefer this, or something about Courtney Love, Miley Cyrus, Lou Reed, Justin Bieber, Lulu, Jonas Bros, or Axl Rose?
I can't even tell what the last one sounds like because of that annoying vocalist. If you can't even make up decent lyrics, just stick with instrumentals.
ok am i the only 1 who noticed the guy wrote practise insted of practice in the 1st paragraph of this article? hahahaha this guy needs 2 work on his editing skills b4 these bands work on their covers! hahaha
I'm gonna be that guy, and point out that like half of these covers are by people outside of the US, playing music by American bands. And the little kid one was a low blow.

I kinda feel bad for watching these. If anyone has ever had a band you have most likely played a bad cover at some gig. Its kind of like watching a video of "first time snowboarder falls on ass" wow, who would have thought that those that lacked experience would do so bad hahahahahaha stupid beginners

Uh, no.
I've played in a bunch of bands, alongside other musicians of varying abilities.
And with each band, I made sure we practiced our asses off so we didn't sound like any of those.
And I'm pretty sure there're lots of other users on here who would say the same.
Pretty awful, objectively, but you gotta cut some of those kids some slack... and you gotta give them a little credit for having confidence to do that in front of people...
YES! I was hoping that Guns N Roses one would be one here. I've been a fan of that video for a long time, and it makes me cry with laughter every time I watch it.
Dino Hunters - Senses Fail cover. YouTube it. It has to be one of the worst things ever put together with words and instruments and considered a song. What makes it worse is if you don't know the song, look it up afterwards.

Those guys playing.....er, BUTCHERING, 'Sweet Child O Mine' should be killed. Seriously. That is just offensive, especially the guitar player. He needs to go back and learn the parts correctly instead of trying to insert his version. SMFH.....
Im with a heap of the guys that said give them a break! What is music about? People having a go and expressing them selves, even if it sounds like a cat getting run over with a lawn mower people still need constructive critisim instead of being blasted. I just think its wrong man! Dimebag darrell would be the first to tell these people that they made a great effort and then let them know a few pointers? Shame....

Yeah, lightyear. The same as people say "miles ahead of their time". The whole "lightyear is a measurement of distance lol" is getting slightly old. I think we all know by now that it is a distance measurement and not a measurement of time...
The bonus one was really just a parody of avant-garde, and not that far off from something I could see Zappa or Beefheart attempting (I said "attempting", not "pulling off"). The Let It Be cover was just hilarious! This, ladies and gentlemen, is why opera does not mix with rock music.
...and that is why some people, on here, need to think twice before criticizing a national, A-list band for their so-called lack of talent, when they, themselves, can't even have their own band play a simple progression tight...and don't blame the gear, more like human error. Usually, that's what separates a well-known band, to ones that have never left the garage, or should just stay in the garage. Just experiences of dealing with both worlds.
