Why pick just one Bowie era when you can have them all? From Thin White Duke to silver-haired fox, this comprehensive two-disc set covers all of Bowie’s career highlights, including classics like “Ziggy Stardust” and “Rebel, Rebel,” plus guilty pleasures like “China Girl” and Tin Machine’s “Under the God.”

Bob Dylan Dylan

The folk hero has released something like 573 official albums, some of them very good, others not so much. Why risk blowing $12 on a lousy one when you can just get this three-disc trawl through the best of the best? And by that we mean it includes the oft-covered “Like a Rolling Stone,” “Lay, Lady, Lay,” and “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door.”

Duran Duran Greatest

They may have successfully put the pastel suits behind them but these high-flying British new wave icons never managed to make another album as good or as popular as their 1982 sophomore release, Rio. Honestly, this is a toss-up between the Stones’ two compilation albums Forty Licks and Hot Rocks 1964-1971. But since Forty Licks draws the best songs off some of the band’s least impressive albums it takes the cake for having the insight to place “Miss You” and “Shattered” alongside “Ruby Tuesday” and “Paint It Black.”

New Order The Best of New Order

This group has released nearly as many best-of compilations as actual albums, if not more. That’s because they know that by lining up all their moody, pulse-quickening synth-pop singles such as “Bizarre Live Triangle” and “Blue Monday” back-to-back, it effectively renders all competitors—Depeche Mode, Erasure, the Pet Shop Boys—totally useless.

Actually I'd rather say **** people who say **** Gibson; For a list that is supposedly bias you'd think we WOULD see something like say a Led Zeppelin or G'n'R, but guess what, they aren't there. The list was decent, not the greatest, but in no way was there any obvious bias towards Gibson. If anything it's just like any other random "greatest" article just for the author to stroke their ego and talk about what they think is the best.

Some of the bands on there in my opinion shouldn't be in the top 10, i think RHCP should at least be on there somewhere because they are actually a band who make classic album after classic album.

I disagree with you. Red Hot Chili Peppers do not make classic album after classic album. But, that's just my opinion. Just like you have your opinion. And the person who wrote the list is welcome to one as well.

So great bands like Van Halen and Led Zep, etc. weren't on there because they have so many great songs and entire albums that any "Hits" package couldn't contain them all. This list is a ****ing joke.
That the writer feels it necessary to sum up the doors as a "singles band" is appalling enough,
but I find that "The Doors: Legacy" beats "The Best of the Doors" fifty times over. Not only because it has twice as much material, but because it shows you everything from the band's organ-driven pop material to their raw, passionate blues songs.
As others have stated, it's a great injustice that a Queen greatest hits isn't on here. I'd also include NYC Man by Lou Reed, but that's probably just me.

All you get on '1' is their Poppier side and a little bit of their later material. Good old advernews strikes again. Nobody is going to agree to anything and that is why today's music isn't like just one genre. And at the top about bands cranking out hits after hits, I don't see Nirvana there. Don't get me wrong, they are one of my favorite bands of all time, but "Bleach" was really only known after Nevermind and all 3 weren't particularly great. To like Nirvana, you pretty much have to love live records and find their bootlegs to hear some of there best songs. (With The Lights Out box set is pretty much a best of bootlegs) And to the people on here who think Blink 182 beats out Led Zep and Hendrix, please do yourself a favor and bash your brains in. Actually, I've found every RHCP album to be a few good songs drowning in a sea of mediocrity, whereas I love every song from Nevermind and In Utero and Unplugged In New York. At least I'm stating this as an opinion though, rather than acting as though what I think is fact.

Whoever wrote this is a peice of shit. Saying it's better to just buy a greatest hits album so you can hear the "good" songs which in translation are just the singles. Greatest hits albums always sound like shit, reason A being they are never in cronological order and reason B being that albums are generally themed and when you break apart the albums and mix songs from diffrnt albums together it doesn't sound like you'r listening to an album at all.

I have some issues with this list. First off Bob Dylan is the man, however his greatest hits album is 3 discs. i have it and it is rediculous. There's only like 2-4 good songs per disc the rest is all crap it does'nt deserve to be there. It should only be one disc.
Also i would add ccr. The clash's album sucks too they had 4 hits dude wtf. It should be the ramones also should have something modern on there like idk greendays greatest hits. every song on it is actually a hit. they were pretty influential. and wtf is duran duran doing there. they were practically a one hit wonder in the states. more crap reviews from our friends at gibson. Who in the hell is new order. god help us. wheres the beatles and elvis i'm sure they have a greatest hits album lurking around. Just a guess but you must be British.
