Aerosmith's Joe Perry Denies Break-Up Rumours

Aerosmith's Joe Perry has denied rumours that the band are about to split up by saying a new album "will happen".

Perry, who hasn't spoken to frontman Steven Tyler since he fell off the stage in August, was "upset" that the band had to cancel their North American tour, but has dismissed rumours of the veterans splitting.

"Maybe we have three more records in us. Maybe we have five, seven years of touring," Perry told the Boston Herald.

"[We're] taking a breather," he added, but hoped the band would reconvene in spring to begin recording their next album and plan a tour for next autumn.

"That day will come. Whether it's him calling me or me calling him, it will happen," Perry said on reconnecting with Tyler again.

Although the band are officially "taking a breather", they are still set to play two gigs next month on the Hawaiian island of Maui as a result of a lawsuit after the band cancelled the gigs two years ago, reports the Star Bulletin.

The band have not released an album of original material since 2001's "Just Push Play".

hes upset because steven is in and out of rehab again, and fell off the stage while under the influence of drugs.
i saw a recent interview where joe said he and steven hadnt sat down and written a song together in over 15 years. no wonder just push play sucked. Steven has way to big of an ego, listen to the album, its so layered with vocals by steven, i cant even listen to it. i miss the guitar rock band they used to be.

this band isn't half as good as they were at one time and steven tyler is washed up. listen to older stuff like rocks and toys in the attic back before they started hiring 'pro' songwritters who destroyed their sound.

The current rendition of the Joe Perry Project sounds great though. Listen to them live online somehwere. Maybe youtube? At least we know Joe is still going for that hard driving blues rock. And they DID do Honkin on Bobo which was a step back in the right direction. Their next album has potential...

Aerosmith surely have no credibility anymore? From a band that wrote albums like Rocks, and Get Your Wings to a 'band' who performed "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing". From awesome blues rave-ups to modern soulless ballads. Dream On is a good ballad, Pandoras Box is a good ballad.
I would still like to see them live, but I do not hold great hopes about the new album. Nevertheless, I hope steven recovers soon, and that he doesn't "fall off the wagon" again, or if he has that he gets back on it.

I actually think Steven Tyler is fantastic. I think the band went a little too poppy in recent years, but I don't know if they'd still be good at doing heavier stuff. It's not like every hard rock album they did was good, I'd only want them to do it if they could do it well. I hope, like everyone else, that the band stay together.

I like Aerosmith but 8 years since their last album? Come on guys dust off your balls and "finish" an album, anything so we can stop hearing reports of "album ready in a few months". We've been hearing that for several years now. We have seen you live before lets here some NEW music. With all of your talents, it doesn't take you all years to record an album. You could have recorded this year and released it before dumb ass Tyler fell off the stage. WTF kind of Potpourri was he inhaling?? I'm sorry but 30+ years on stage and you ****ing fall off? It seems like they need to take some time off to get themselves straightened out. Nearly all of the members have had some kind of issue in the last couple of years. Hopefully they'll snap out of it soon and crank out a great album!

i can't say i'm dissapointed with aerosmith's new stuff, i can listen to jaded without getting douche chills, they can do pop well, i'd rather hear aerosmith do poppy shit rather then some shitty band out now, but im not sure i wanna hear them rehash the old sound. if you want the old stuff see them live. or if you want to see steven tyler fall off stage.

"the grind" was a great song off Honkin on Bobo, and i think it's one of the originals, if the next album is more of that, i would be into it.

it must be because i live in Australia. but i don't really know any aerosmith songs apart from walk this way and i don't wanna miss a thing. i dont know anyone who likes aerosmith or anyone who brings them up in a general music convo or anyone who has the guitar hero game. -_-. that's why it makes sence to me guitar hero aerosmith sold the least amount of games then any other one in the series. guitar hero metallica i do understand and van halen when it comes out.
