Alice Cooper And Sebastian Bach For 'Rock Band' TV Show

As if your television set doesn't get enough of the video game Rock Band, now comes Rock Band The TV Show. EW.com reported that Rock Band 2 The Stars, a spoof of VH1's celebreality competition, airs on the network's VH1 Classic channel and online beginning October 15.

Professional rock stars Alice Cooper and Sebastian Bach will play hosts to 12 wannabe rockers who live in a loft together and vie to out-skill each other in challenges designed to showcase Rock Band 2's new features. Rumors of a potential Rock Band show surfaced in early September when a casting call appeared on the game's website seeking "hardcore fans of the video game Rock Band to form the Ultimate Rock Band." Specifically, it called for players to "be a master of at least one instrument, and preferably excel at all of them." The show will air as six mini-episodes.

Combining game-play with general rock attitude, each week the contestant with the worst overall performance will be eliminated. Once it's down to three players - drums, guitar and bass - those two groups will back Cooper and Bach at a final showdown taped at Los Angeles' famed Viper Room. The winning band will then get to play in between sets at the L.A. stop of the Rock Band Live tour featuring Panic At The Disco, Dashboard Confessional, Plain White T's, and The Cab.

ive only played the game that has the fake guitar not the whole setup lol. I was at the store and saw a whole "laser light show" for the rockband game. if your going to spend 300 dollars on all that shit why dont you just buy a real guitar? This is, by far, one of the worst things that could ever happen to tv and the world of music. Sure, the game is fun and good when you are hanging with no-musical-talent-what-so-ever friends, but who the hell could pull off doing a show on it? Who is it for? Little kids who idolize people that can play on the hardest difficulty level instead of the good ole days when kids idolized actual guitarists?

To everyone that thinks that people are taking this too serously. Its actually you taking what they say more serously than them. What's the benefit of this besides tv ratings go up for a little? i think one of the worst things about this rockband/guitar hero stuff and this article is it makes kids think thier going to be rockstars. first of all playing a plastic game controller doesnt make you a rockstar, second for those who do pick up a real guitar after relizing how lame it is to pretend, do yourself a favor and maybe try going by the name musician youll sound alot less like a fag

I agree that these games do more harm than good to any potential musicians.It is beneficial because it can inspire kids to want to play the guitar or drums or whatever. The games also do help with coordination. Also it opens up differnt genres of rock to people. Alot of young kids had no idea who The Allman Brothers are and the game introduces them to bands they never heard of.

Guitar Hero and Rock Band are good games for when having a party. I'm a guitar player and I do play Guitar Hero, but for any potential musicians out there, playing a real guitar is so much better. There is noting like cranking your amp and just letting loose on a real guitar.

But overall, these games are more harmful to potential musicians than people think.
