Alice Cooper Talks About Today's Music Scene

Alice Cooper recently asked Noisecreep, whether all American bands are metro-sexual now. One of rock's living legends, Cooper has had it with the lack of real men in rock.

"I heard the title Vampire Weekend and I thought, 'Oh, man, that's gonna be great. I gotta see it,'" he says.

"And there are these guys with little Gap T-shirts on and I'm going, 'What happened to the balls in rock 'n' roll? Why are American bands so wimpy?'"

Who does earn his hard rock seal of approval? "The Foo Fighters get up there and they rock, they know how to rock. Green Day rocks, they get up there and they have energy," he says.

"I am worried that a lot of the newer bands that are coming out are depending too much on keyboards and being sensitive. Maybe I'm just not sensitive anymore. I like to hear a band be stupid and drunk. I wish I could see more bands like that were like early Guns N' Roses, early Aerosmith, just snotty rock 'n' roll bands."

He is definately right. Im disgusted that bands like MGMT, Tokyo Hotel, Fall Out Boy, 3OH3!, are all household names now. We do need great Performers like Cooper, Aerosmith, Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, in this new generation. ANd the answer IS NOT the lame deathcore/ tough guy hardcore movement that is going around right now. Sorry people.

what do you mean exactly? are you saying that just because his stage name is Alice, wears make-up and judges the validity of other bands' names to the content of their music makes him audacious? well....your point would only be valid if he had nothing to show for himself. be he DOES have something to show. actually, he's got a helluva LOT to show. Alice Cooper nearly ruined his life because of alcoholism. He got over it, helped other musicians fight abuse and now he says he wants to see it all over again? I think it's really a good thing rock has become somewhat "cleaner", but at the same time I have to agree, true rock is more or less gone.

I don't know what I'm talkin´ about? I've been a fan of Alice for over thirty years. Probably longer than you've been alive.
And besides, I'm sure he would be the first to laugh about my posting because he, as opposed to you, has a sense of humor.

I like the way he thinks and I agree. I'm an adherent to the first four Aerosmith albums and classic GNR(Appetite and both UYI's.) I agree. I personally think that there aren't many ROCK, I MEAN ROCK bands. Bands are just focused on different aspects of previous genres and there's no fire. Coldplay don't make rock. The Kings of Leon do, but they've gravitated away from it. Muse? I think we're looking for more classic, dirty rocking. I personally think that even bands that try to revive GNR end up being Motley Crue revivalists. Case in point, Hinder.

I gotta admit, I found this funny, because I've seen both Foo Fighters AND Green Day in concert, and I totally agree.

I even got pulled up ON STAGE with Green Day. Damn, I love Billie Joe Armstrong. He's such a cool guy. XD. Hell, so are Mike and Tre. The whole damned band's awesome.

The Foos are more balls-out. They rock hard. Hell yeah.

Those were two american bands and 1 canadian band, the bands hes concentrating on are of course pussy bands. But i hope he doesn't condemn the whole modern music scene because of abunch of hipster sissies.

there are quite a few band who claim to be hard core and or rock and they just are to soft it bothers me but what can i say i am not the one who has to go up on stage and play i just wanna know where did the real music go?
