Andrew W.K.'s Ambassadorial Trip To Bahrain Cancelled Because He's 'Too Party'

As it was reported earlier, the hard partying singer had been named a cultural ambassador to the Middle East by the US Department of State.

However, DCist now writes that his visit has been called off.

The "Party Hard" singer was set to travel to Bahrain next month to promote partying and positive power in the troubled region after being invited by the US embassy in Manama in partnership with the US Department of State.

A spokesperson for the US Department of State has now said that after reconsideration, the embassy thought WK was "probably not a best choice and didn't meet our standards." They added that he was also never officially named a "cultural ambassador" (via NME)

Andrew W.K. responded to the news via his Twitter account, writing:

"I'm just blown away. After a year of planning, the US State Dept. just canceled my Middle East trip because I'm too party."

Andrew WK promotes "positive partying". He only mentions sex maybe once or twice in any of his songs, and most of them are just about having fun. His whole idea is to make a better more unified world by everyone not caring about creed or color, but just loving one another and living life to its fullest and making it just one big party.

No, I'm just pointing out that he isn't a deviant but rather a pretty likable guy who has a better chance than anyone to maybe show that region of the world that the US isn't just a military force bent on world domination as some would think. Plus, he was asked to come there BY Bahrain, so it would seem there would be no harm in sending him.

This is why I hate the US Government. The fact that someone took time out of their day to release this statement instead of doing whatever the **** they should be doing about Benghazi and other worldly affairs.
