Axl Greeted With Thrown Drink

Guns N' Roses concert goers should come to expect late starts. But, it didn't stop one fan from expressing a little anger over waiting for Axl in Australia. Wenn reports that a fan tossed a drink at Rose when the band got off to a late start for a Brisbane gig.

Apparently the band didn't start until nearly midnight and some fans who paid well over $100 dollars a ticket weren't happy. The report says that not long into their classic "Welcome To The Jungle" someone hurled a can at Axl. In response, Rose reportedly challenged the audience, "Is that what you want? You want a battle. If you're going to act like that, then you know I don't have to be here." Despite some reported long disappearances during songs, Rose did finish the show.

Now that's a sign Axl has grown. Years ago he would have jumped in the crowd or stomped off. One question I have for security there though is, who lets a can into a concert? Having full cans of anything tossed at you is no fun, even for someone who may deserve some razzing for apparently not learning to tell time or respect those that have.

i agree w/ hard to explain. axl DID have to be there, as the gig was GNR, who he sings w/. if he hadnt of had the gig booked, then he wouldnt have had to be there. theres no excuse for bein late, and hes lucky a can was the only thing thrown at him.

I was at the Adelaide, Australia show. The show did not start late, Axl was great and we were only allowed to take plastic cups into the venue (drinks in cans were poured into cups). I think this makes more of a statement about the Brisbane crowd than about Axl Rose. I mean, Axl really gave a shit about the people of Adelaide, and Adelaide is a smaller market that most international bands ignore. After seeing Slayer not give a shit about Adelaide I have much more respect for people like Axl.

I was at 3 of these shows and it was amazing. I waited a total of about 20 hours to see Axl, not to mention all the travel time. I'm sure this guy could've waited an hour. It was well worth it. Axl forever.

And obviously you guys don't know the story about people throwing things at concerts, apparently back in the day someone threw stuff and it got way out of hand and people got hurt. Guns N Roses are all about this type of activity. If they weren't causing problems they wouldnt be Guns N Roses. If you go to a GNR show and expect axl to be on time then YOU are a retard. sorry to double post but... I remember reading slash say that they started late because they wanted to be in the mood to put up a good show. If you're not in the mood to perform, $100 is wasted from everyone. At least it's only delayed this way.

there have been several incidents were Axl actually did try and calm the audience because they were being too rowdy or someone was doing something stupid. one i can think of off the top of my head was on the Live Era album, you hear him telling the audience to move back because people in the front rows were getting squished together and some people had already left in stretchers.

The bottom line is, Axl needs his fans more than they need him. Any band with a fan base should absolutely respect their fans, because the only reason he has any noteriety is because of his fans. That's been Coming for so long, and a sign that Axl has grown? Bull. He seems to have this old-style belief of when he walks onstage, the audience should be in his pocket from song 1. They may well have been, but waltzing onstage after 4 hours does sort of destroy what affection the fans have for a band. It's funny how a lot of you are posting stuff about Axl but have never been to a GNR show and have no idea who is even in the band today. Look at the reviews of people who have went to the concerts and you will see what the audience thinks. All of them say how awesome the shows are, how great the band is and how good Axl sounds. That is rock and roll baby, better than any of the emo crap most of you wet turds listen to today. Axl makes great music, sure he has an ego but most big rock stars do, deal with it. For those of you who are always saying VR rules and Axl is a prick you must realize that Weildand is one of the biggest pricks there are, he treats those around him like crap, especially his opening bands. I like VR but they are a slighty above average band with mediocre song writing and shallow lyrics (she builds quick machines, come on really).

Bottomline: The crowds love the new GNR and that is what matters, not opioions of people who can't even name the band or haven't seen them perform.

I went to the Axl and co show in Melbourne, and i must admit i was expecting it to be a nightmare, sure the band started about 15mins behind schedule but Axl was great, seemed to be very happy made some funny comments and really looked like he was having a good time, and why, he's now got the band he wanted, a band of staff that play the tunes he wants and how he wants, i really enjoyed the night.....Sebastian was a bit much though, very much stuck in the "old days".

I was at the brisbane show the night after this happened. The whole story isn't told here. Axl's band were ready to come out on time, but Axl was still in Adelaide getting flown up in his learjet. Apparently his band members have to catch normal planes around while he cruises in a learjet...At the concert I went to, he said he didn't leave the Brisbane Entertainment Centre untill 8am the next morning (of the the night of the late start) and said he wished he would be hit by a massive truck. He also said he was stupid for partying so hard the night before. Atleast he apologised. Still a ****ing great concert though!! The new stuff sounds really good.Sebastion Bach was just as good as GNR. Really good considering GNR's has about a billion people in the band now, using so much effects.

Robin Finck is an amazing guitarist, and the only reason he's not in the spotlight is because everyone seems to have a mutual hatred towards the new band. If this guy were in any other band right now, people would be praising him.

Yeah, coming late(which isn't really late, mind you, as they come on nearly the same time every night), and playing a nearly three hour show is totally "mistreating the fans." It wasn't a can of drink that was thrown. It was apparently a Doc Martin boot. I was at the show in Brisbane the following night, and it was one of the greatest night's of my life! Apparently the prick who threw the boot didn't have enough "patience", and blew it for everyone! I just hope the new record is released soon 'cause I'm sick of listening to bootlegs!!!
