Billie Joe Puts House Up For Sale

Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong has put his Californian beach home on the market for a cool $1.9million (£1.06million).

The singer, who was admitted to rehab in October after smashing his guitar in a furious onstage rant prompted by organisers of a US festival trying to cut short the band's set, bought the property back in 2006 for $1.7millioon, reports NME.

According to property records, Billie Joe and his wife Adrienne re-built the property from "the studs up" within a year of buying the house, which is situated just a block from the ocean in Newport Beach, California.

Meanwhile, Blink-182's Mark Hoppus recently spoke out about Billie Joe Armstrong's stint in rehab. "I don't know exactly what's going on. I saw what happened onstage, and then I saw the announcement, like, two days later or whatever it was, that he was checking himself in to get help," he said.

He added: "I think that's great if it's what he needs, and I wish them all the best. They're an amazing band and really cool guys, and I hope that all is good in their world."

Armstrong is set to remain in rehab until 2013 with many of Green Day's live dates affected by the frontman's unavailability. The band have brought forward the release of new album "Tre!" to compensate fans who will be unable to see them performing live.
