According to Gigwise, Blur will receive the Outstanding Contribution To Music Award at next year's Brit Awards.
The band will collect the gong during the ceremony at the O2 Arena on February 21.
Speaking about the award, Damon Albarn has said "recognition for all the work and all the heartache that has gone into this band." Guitarist Graham Coxon added: "Being in a band this long is like a kind of time travel."
Previous winners of the award include
Oasis,
Paul McCartney,
The Who,
U2 and
Queen.
Meanwhile, Alex James has given Blur fans a reason to celebrate this Christmas by revealing the Parklife hitmakers are meeting up over the holidays and will "probably" record new material.
The news comes weeks after frontman Damon Albarn revealed he and his bandmates have been teaming up for low-key recording sessions.
James tells British music magazine Nme, "We're getting together for a Christmas drink next week which is nice. We still see each other all the time, more since we were all living out of a suitcase... We'll probably record again."
But he insists the band isn't likely to release an album any time soon, adding, "Is there such a thing as an album? Does music have to come 12 tracks at a time?"
