Brian 'Head' Welch Baptized

Former Korn guitarist Brian "Head" Welch was baptized Saturday in the Jordan River (photo), just weeks after quitting his band, drug habits and rock-and-roll lifestyle for religion, reports SMN.

In an Associated Press Article, it's revealed that Welch, a founding member of the multi-platinum band, and about 20 other white-robed Christian pilgrims from a Bakersfield, Calif., church were immersed by their pastor, Ron Vietti.

Welch said the ritual baptism had washed away his anger. "You know when you get angry and it builds up? I felt like hurting someone before, now I feel like hugging people," he said.

Vietti said Welch - who has "Jesus" tattooed across his knuckles and "Matthew 11:28," tattooed prominently across his neck - is already attracting a new group of young people to the message of Christianity. "In recent weeks people have committed their lives to God because they're so inspired by his story," Vietti said.

Korn announced Welch's resignation last month after 13 years with the band. Welch said he had become increasingly depressed and drug-addicted in recent years, but that religion helped him quit.

He said he plans to release more music without the band. "My songs are God saying things to me, him talking to people. He's going to use me to heal people and people are going to be drawn to it, just watch, they will be," he said.

Thousands of pilgrims are baptized annually in the Jordan River where, according to Biblical tradition, John The Baptist baptized Jesus.

He does look a bit like the traditional Christ. I'm very happy for Mr. Welch, and I hope his musical career continues. Perhaps without Fieldy's "chucka-chucka-chick-chick" bass in the background we can actually hear if he's a good guitarist. I think he probably has loads of good ideas and that he just couldn't use them in KoRn. Again, best of luck to Mr. Welch in all his future endevours.

I was a great decision. I'm also Christian and though I hate Korn, I respect Head. It was about time to leave a band that has no talent in music what-so-ever, and has failed so miserably for so many long years. If Head has any talent to his guitar playing what-so-ever, then he might as well put it to a lot more of a better use. To hell with Korn. Now Head has finally seen the light and has saved his life. Hopefully he'll play some real metal if he ever makes a band up on his own. He seems like a good smart guy. One of the smartest things are to leave KoRn to rot away follow a completely better path. He is doing good for himself. I wish him luck along the way...

The Bible we Christians use helped to base Islam like someone said before but the quote "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth" is in the same Bible all Christian and Catholic churches use even today.

While we're on the subject of KoRn...I must admit I was attracted to their music when I was angsty...and I still am. I think that Korn produces some very good "angry" noise, but I've yet to see them produce something of real value in terms of music.

I wish Head the best of luck for the future. It's difficult and scary to uproot from something you've done your whole life and go in a completely new direction but if he fells that he needs it to be done then who are we to argue. He was born with free will and has chosen to execise it.

Speaking of free will, I'm an atheist (as irony would have it my pseudonym is Nors and they were regarded as pagans by the Normans) and for many personal and social reasons. Free will is blunted by man made law and religious doctrine, i don't believe in either, i live by my own morales, ethics and values. I've been one and lived with it from the age of 16. When i was 16 i lost 3 close family members in the space of 18 months. I then looked deeper into religion and it didn't look to good. By the way i'm also Hindu born but went to a Catholic School and never looked at what i was taught but rather at what i wasn't. The greatest thing John Paul II did was apologise for all the atrocities of the Catholic Church, what a great human, much respect to him.

The Crusade a "holy war" riddled with religious insecurity and greed. The worst Crusade was i think it was the 8th or 9th when children walked onto the battle field and were massacred, they along with their parents believed that God would protect them and victory would be their's. Where was god?

If god has all the power that he does then why does he leave innocent to die or suffer. Does he only punish the "bad" in the after life? Pretty ***ing late if you ask me. By then the cycle of violence and abuse would have expanded. He must really love us?

There are scientific and psychological reasons for just about anything and everything. Something the Catholic Church would have denied a few hundred years ago look at: Galileo placed under house arrest until his death for proving the earth revolved around the sun and not the other way around as the Catholic Church said and Charles Darwin was ostrecized to the point of agnoticism and atheism for his theory of evolution.

There's a whole lot of other stuff that if you look hard enough you'll find out. Try and read the Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie, it explains alot about religion. Gotta go.

And if you want to catch a pseudo-atheist ask him/her if they believe in fate and destiny both of which are determined by the entity they supposedly don't believe in.

ok for every one here who needs proof about Jesus, that He is the Christ ill give just a little. in the old testoment there were 333 prophesies about the "savior". Jesus fulfilled every one of these prophosies. the chances of one man fulfilling just 8 of these is like hiding a single grain of rice any where in the US, blindfolding you and telling u to find it on the first try. im not just saying that its an actual siantific idea. and if u need more proof just look around u into the healing minestry. i have first hand seen the awesome healong powers of GOD, thing that i dont see how people can turn away from. but if thats your choice than thats your chioce. ok every one, lets not start a holy war here. you guys. you have to respect brian head welch for his decision. have any of you korn fans even payed any attention to thier lyrics. they are scarier and more angry than the devils shit. kornball and all you other stupid ***ing shitheads listen. head realized that he had so much anger built up in him and a good way to get rid of all of that anger is to be baptized into a church. you cant critisize hem for seeking help for himself. maybe he is going through his midlife crisis. korn is a really ***ed up band that needs some help. im not saying that i dont like them. i like about 50% of thier music but they are some of the most ***ed up and wierd excuses for musicians that i have ever seen. i am in full support of brian joining the christian religion (personally i dont know how they accepted him after he played and wrote songs like "trash" , "all in the family" and the worst korn song ever to be heard by human ears "children of the korn". i hated that song , especially because it featured that big ***ing dick ice cube. ok i am getting side track here. i think that head realizes that korn is the most angry band in the world and they are not going to be to happy by writing horrid songs like the previously mentioned. he is seeking help for himself to try and pull himself out of that anger that he has been in for more that thirteen years. he sought help for himself. all bands will do that at one point. bands cant do everything for thier fans you know. they wish that they can but they cant. it is a lot of hard work running a band. most people dont even realize how hard it is to run a band. a band will work thier ass off making recordings and albums for thier fans and when they finally do something that is helpful to them, the fans go and act like the band is just trying to rip the fans off. or stupid ***ing dicks like kornball up there try to blame the religion for taking away the band members. that is really childish kornball, you cant blame a ***ing religion. i havent even met you and i think that you are a complete ***ing dickhole. (in case this gets censored i said d-i-c-k-h-o-l-e and not a-s-s-h-o-l-e) even though you are probably a big ***ing asshole too. a religion is something people believe in. and people like kornball are trying to critisize that.
