Torico, Being Anti-Religious is a disease of logical thought, think about it for a minute. You just say that because its "trendy" to diss religion, this shows your lack of open mindedness. If you thought about religion somewhat you might see that theres a lot or at least some truth in it
POSTED: 03/07/2005 - 12:42 pm / quote |
RiffRock :
I just hope Brian keeps his shit together. The Christian music industry and media has a way of taking these "sinners" who have had great success in the devils domain and have turned their lives over to Jesus and sticking them on a pedestal and saying "look at who we have on our side now". It turns into a big phony celebrity show where they parade the newby christian around like a piece of meat.

Italianstallion :
Exactly. People slag off religion coz they think its what they should do. If he became a Buddhist or something new age people would hardly say a thing as they are more socially acceptable. Its hard to stand out for a religion stigmatised with boredom and people preaching at everyone, I know. Good luck to him.

He does look a bit like the traditional Christ. I'm very happy for Mr. Welch, and I hope his musical career continues. Perhaps without Fieldy's "chucka-chucka-chick-chick" bass in the background we can actually hear if he's a good guitarist. I think he probably has loads of good ideas and that he just couldn't use them in KoRn. Again, best of luck to Mr. Welch in all his future endevours.

PS: Atheism is lame and trendy. Go open your mind about religion.

I was a great decision. I'm also Christian and though I hate Korn, I respect Head. It was about time to leave a band that has no talent in music what-so-ever, and has failed so miserably for so many long years. If Head has any talent to his guitar playing what-so-ever, then he might as well put it to a lot more of a better use. To hell with Korn. Now Head has finally seen the light and has saved his life. Hopefully he'll play some real metal if he ever makes a band up on his own. He seems like a good smart guy. One of the smartest things are to leave KoRn to rot away follow a completely better path. He is doing good for himself. I wish him luck along the way...

The Bible we Christians use helped to base Islam like someone said before but the quote "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth" is in the same Bible all Christian and Catholic churches use even today.

Good for him. Best of luck for him. It takes muchos cojones to do what he is doing.

I have no problem with atheists, what I dislike is atheists who brag that their way is best (for the record, I also dislike religious people who do that too). However, it is true that many (though certainly not all) people just become atheists to appear cool and anti-conformist.

Anyways theres nothing wrong with him doing something that he thinks will better himself... although I doubt I will listen much to his new music. Actually I didn't listen to much of his old music, so maybe it will improve.

'An eye for an eye makes the world blind.' - Mohandas K. Gandhi

While we're on the subject of KoRn...I must admit I was attracted to their music when I was angsty...and I still am. I think that Korn produces some very good "angry" noise, but I've yet to see them produce something of real value in terms of music.

PS: I'm not a Bible thumping Christian or a God-fup/i]cking atheist, I don't go either way. I'm spiritual, and if Jesus is the guy I meet when I die, then so be it. If I meet Shiva, good for that as well.

I think that religion is just something to give people hope. I think that there really is no god, and no matter what kind of person we in life we are still bound to go to hell, so do whatever the hell u want with your life. Just Like what the Greeks thought, it didn't matter what u did in life, u will still go to hell(hades). Most people that believe in Christainity, and a whole shit load of other religions are brain washed, thinking that we should kill other people for not believing in their GOD!!!.. For Example Islam, they are all brain washed Mother Fuckers!!!.. But Believe in what u want, This is just my opinion.

I'm sorry, but to say "slagging off religion is now trendy" is so f#@kin' stupid! I've lived here in America's Bible-belt for 2 years, and I'm soon moving back to the UK. And the one major thing I've learned living here is, people here are so messed up. Religion is nothing but Indoctriation. People here have the wrong idea about religion, they're soo full of themselves, thinking that "their god" is right, and they can do no wrong. My father has sutdied the bible for years now, and the things he has discovered have complete blown me away. But naturally you can't tell a christian anything, they think "the bible" is the truth. How can it be the truth if it's been re-written over 400 times, and the fact that most of them complete contradict eachother is the best part.
Head from Korn becoming a chritian because he's "found Jesus" is crap, the guy was in a band the real metal community laugh at, and had a bad drug addiction.
Bottom line, The Passion was nothing but propaganda, the parents here should be ashamed taking little children to see that 2hr excuse for violence.
Their is so much evidence right now showing that christianity will crumble, and fall apart. Unfortunately for all of us, it'll only be replaced by the order of Islam, and then we're all screwed.

lol, I bet from what I wrote above you think that i don't belive in god, right ??! Well ,actually not quite!
I've always had mixed feelings on the issue, if god does exist then he gave everyone free will, and then left us alone. Jesus was man-made, just like the bible. Religion has caused more death, pain, and war than any other factor in our world. For example this war right now on Iraq & all that, it's not about "freedom". On every advert it says "Become a marine, protect the american way, and freedom." WTF ??
What has any of this got to do with the american way, and freedom ?? You're not fighting a country, or people, you're fighting a religion "the order of Islam". And it's a fate that you'll soon have to accept, we're all gonna lose! Islam is the biggest religion worldwide, and they're not only serious, they're crazy! I think '9/11' proved that!
People need to wake up, and realise this! I did a talk at one school (the ridiculous teachers tried to stop me because I'm not a christian, basically they were scared!), and a guy acutally said to me "this war on Iraq is Jesus's will". Now christians can say all they want about freedom of speach, and being allowed to believe in what you want. But trust me, I've watched my father study this for years on end, the bible is "the book of lies", and he belives in god.
Ask yourself that one question that has, and will always be there - Why is it that all priests get richer, and the people get poorer ??
Christianity was the smartest business idea ever.
Believe in good sure, and build as many churches as you want, being "saved" won't help you. If you don't catch on, you will the day you die.

Oh the hypocrisy.. So-called religious or christian people calling others ***ers etc.

Me, I'm not sure. I'm young, I'm gonna live life and if I find a path in life, as Mr. Welch here, who btw seems to have been totally forgotten in this column thing, then great. For now, I'll stay open-minded towards theists (word?) and atheists.

All that said, shut up and talk about guitars.

And what makes you the expert?

Hats off to him for doing what he wants, and not what anyone else wants of him. If that's what he wants to do with his life, then its more than ok with me.

All that said, shut up and talk about guitars.

Well said, this is musical based news anyway, can't anyone see that talking about religion isn't going anywhere..?

my opinion..

Head has played the 'finding religion' card as an aid to a quiet retirement, he's made enough albums n cash to live comfortably with his family and he doesn't want folk mobbing him in the street while he gets some serious quality time.. no offence to him.. but no self respecting mettaler is gonna wanna hear a thing he has to say in a few months.. mission accomplished!

NOOO..!!!.. korn got me onto the guitar!!!! Korn just wont be the same without HEAD!!!! God damn christians!!!.. Its all just a way to control you it is. If you guys are content with life and your path why do you feel the need to change others? and why are your offerings money? You know that episode of south park where cartman starts a religion? I think some guy did that couple hundred years ago....all for some riches....

I wont lie, I like korn they are my favorite band, but I still think people like cspin should have thier right their opinion. then again they should also respect ours also and shouldnt always say "korn is the worst band ever" or stuff like that cuz that is like telling us what to think, not that cspin was trying to do that i am just saying. and as for religion I dont swear under any certain religion but i still believe in god. but I dont like how many people say religion is bad just because they believe its corrupt or a lie. god could exist he couldnt but we are not to say it is or isnt. if you can tell I am not taking sides on this I am just saying people shouldnt fight each other on what other people should think

If I a, correct those where first spoken by either Stalin or Lenin who both where scared religion would cause them to lose power. just to let you know. as for Mr. Welch he seems happy and that is all anyone really wants out of life so I say good for him. I am sure korn will still go on. sorry this was so long

Freyr :
I wish Head the best of luck for the future. It's difficult and scary to uproot from something you've done your whole life and go in a completely new direction but if he fells that he needs it to be done then who are we to argue. He was born with free will and has chosen to execise it.

Speaking of free will, I'm an atheist (as irony would have it my pseudonym is Nors and they were regarded as pagans by the Normans) and for many personal and social reasons. Free will is blunted by man made law and religious doctrine, i don't believe in either, i live by my own morales, ethics and values. I've been one and lived with it from the age of 16. When i was 16 i lost 3 close family members in the space of 18 months. I then looked deeper into religion and it didn't look to good. By the way i'm also Hindu born but went to a Catholic School and never looked at what i was taught but rather at what i wasn't. The greatest thing John Paul II did was apologise for all the atrocities of the Catholic Church, what a great human, much respect to him.

The Crusade a "holy war" riddled with religious insecurity and greed. The worst Crusade was i think it was the 8th or 9th when children walked onto the battle field and were massacred, they along with their parents believed that God would protect them and victory would be their's. Where was god?

If god has all the power that he does then why does he leave innocent to die or suffer. Does he only punish the "bad" in the after life? Pretty ***ing late if you ask me. By then the cycle of violence and abuse would have expanded. He must really love us?

There are scientific and psychological reasons for just about anything and everything. Something the Catholic Church would have denied a few hundred years ago look at: Galileo placed under house arrest until his death for proving the earth revolved around the sun and not the other way around as the Catholic Church said and Charles Darwin was ostrecized to the point of agnoticism and atheism for his theory of evolution.

There's a whole lot of other stuff that if you look hard enough you'll find out. Try and read the Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie, it explains alot about religion. Gotta go.

And if you want to catch a pseudo-atheist ask him/her if they believe in fate and destiny both of which are determined by the entity they supposedly don't believe in.

Rock on. \m/

ok for every one here who needs proof about Jesus, that He is the Christ ill give just a little. in the old testoment there were 333 prophesies about the "savior". Jesus fulfilled every one of these prophosies. the chances of one man fulfilling just 8 of these is like hiding a single grain of rice any where in the US, blindfolding you and telling u to find it on the first try. im not just saying that its an actual siantific idea. and if u need more proof just look around u into the healing minestry. i have first hand seen the awesome healong powers of GOD, thing that i dont see how people can turn away from. but if thats your choice than thats your chioce. God bless

ok every one, lets not start a holy war here. you guys. you have to respect brian head welch for his decision. have any of you korn fans even payed any attention to thier lyrics. they are scarier and more angry than the devils shit. kornball and all you other stupid ***ing shitheads listen. head realized that he had so much anger built up in him and a good way to get rid of all of that anger is to be baptized into a church. you cant critisize hem for seeking help for himself. maybe he is going through his midlife crisis. korn is a really ***ed up band that needs some help. im not saying that i dont like them. i like about 50% of thier music but they are some of the most ***ed up and wierd excuses for musicians that i have ever seen. i am in full support of brian joining the christian religion (personally i dont know how they accepted him after he played and wrote songs like "trash" , "all in the family" and the worst korn song ever to be heard by human ears "children of the korn". i hated that song , especially because it featured that big ***ing dick ice cube. ok i am getting side track here. i think that head realizes that korn is the most angry band in the world and they are not going to be to happy by writing horrid songs like the previously mentioned. he is seeking help for himself to try and pull himself out of that anger that he has been in for more that thirteen years. he sought help for himself. all bands will do that at one point. bands cant do everything for thier fans you know. they wish that they can but they cant. it is a lot of hard work running a band. most people dont even realize how hard it is to run a band. a band will work thier ass off making recordings and albums for thier fans and when they finally do something that is helpful to them, the fans go and act like the band is just trying to rip the fans off. or stupid ***ing dicks like kornball up there try to blame the religion for taking away the band members. that is really childish kornball, you cant blame a ***ing religion. i havent even met you and i think that you are a complete ***ing dickhole. (in case this gets censored i said d-i-c-k-h-o-l-e and not a-s-s-h-o-l-e) even though you are probably a big ***ing asshole too. a religion is something people believe in. and people like kornball are trying to critisize that. GET A FUCKING LIFE YOU BIG FUCKING DICKS. head was overwhelmed by all of this shit and he realized that he needed to be saved from all of this. i wouldnt be surprised if brian asked the rest of the band members in korn to become christians. korn really needs to see some sort of light.

The priest says, "do we have time?"
