Andrew Latimer, the main force behind the work of progressive rock gods Camel, has recently been inactive do to health issues. Fortunately he has been treated, and after a long time away from music the guitarist / vocalist / flautist is ready to write and release once again.
That being said, the band is about to release a new live DVD entitled “The Opening Farewell, Live at the Catalyst”, which was recorded seven years ago in 2003 and will be released shortly after the finishing touches with editing and mastering are done.
The set list for the album contains some of
Camel’s best work: “
Ice”, “
Lady Fantasy”, and “
For Today” being just a few of the songs that achieved the respect of all fans of progressive rock and classic rock alike.
As well as this new live DVD, Andrew Latimer has started work on some recordings and is beginning to plan the beginnings of a new studio album, the fifteenth and first since 2002's "A Nod and a Wink". While some material has been written, there will be no definitive dates for a while.
While the band may not have the largest audience and following, those who do know them love them. And if you aren’t familiar with any of their work, they are now on ITunes. You can also visit their website to access their store and preview some songs.
