Coheed And Cambria Bassist Kicked From Band

After his arrest for allegedly threatening a pharmacy with a fake bomb, Coheed And Cambria bassist Michael Todd has been officially kicked out of the band, according to Billboard.

Todd made the threat in a bid to get painkillers, before getting a taxi to a Massachusetts venue where he was arrested. The band continued their tour, replacing him with bassist Wes Styles.

Todd had previously been forced out the band in 2006 to deal with his heroin addiction, before returning in 2007. It seems the band have decided not to give a second chance:

"After a lot of thought, introspection and discussion, Coheed and Cambria will be continuing our journey without bassist Michael Todd. We have spoken to him and this is a mutual decision between both parties. Michael was a great contributor; our hearts go out to his family and to all those who appreciate his talents. We wish him nothing but the very best," said the band in a statement on their website.

"We’d like to thank Wes Styles for filling in for the live gigs in the interim, including the upcoming South America and Mexico shows. A belated thanks to Rob Gill for covering in Boston; and the biggest thank you to all of you for your unwavering support. A new chapter awaits."

The band add that they are currently writing and recording songs for a new album and a couple of compilations due this fall.

Mic Todd contributed a lot to Coheed and I can't help worrying that the sound of the band will be affected by this. Such a shame to see this happen to my favourite band

He wasn't forced out of the band in 2007, it was his decision to leave. And he wasn't kicked out the band, as said in the quote, it was a mutual decision. I wish people would stop trying to give Mic Todd a bad name and give him some credit. He's one of the nicest people on the planet and an incredible bassist, but reporters make him out to be disgusting and pathetic.

I'm really on the fence about the next album (no pun intended:P). The last two albums felt less creative with the loss of Josh Eppard, and now without Mic I really hope the band aren't furthered pushed in the downward direction

Are you for real? What's so "rock and roll" about robbing a pharmacy with a fake bomb for drugs? He got what was coming to him.

That being said, Coheed is my favorite band and I'm just as saddened as anyone else. Mic is an awesome bass player and I hope he really gets the help he needs.

Apparently you don't know the power of Oxycontin. Mic is really is a good guy, he just got turned upside down by addiction. I'm still bummed about this.

I personally do not, b/c I'm not a drug addict. That's like saying "Well, you don't know what it's like to have voices making you kill. He's really nice when not doing crazy shit!" I'm pretty sure you don't know him personally so that's a silly statement.

Also the article says he won't get a second chance after being kicked once before for heroin? I'd say this is a third chance he's not getting. He had his second chance and f'd it up.

If he cleaned up and just ended back where he was, it's probably because on tour you're surrounded by enablers and that's not going to help a recovering addict. As for the band going downhill - remember that Claudio (and Travis) write all the songs...yeah, Josh and Mic contributed and are awesome musicians, but Chris Pennie ****ing owns - and I'm sure they'll pick up and equally rad bassist. Hope Mic gets clean, for his own good.

i agree aswell, look people, the band isnt going to suck without Mike, if anything if they can get a great bass player like him or better, then Coheeds music will be better. We will remember Todd always, and wish him the best.
