Coldplay Not Splitting Up. Fact

Following Chris Martin’s statement about Coldplay disappearing from the public eye at the Brits, the bands record company have issued a statement explaining about the band’s future.

They may have won the Best Album and Best Single awards at the Brits last night (February 15) but Coldplay caused one of the biggest disturbances of the event when they hinted that they were going to split off.

"This means so much to us, especially now," singer Chris Martin said when recieving the award, "It's going to be a few years before you see us again."

"People are fed up with us - and so are we." He continued, "You won't see us at one of these for many, many years."

Obviously the tabloid press had a bloody field day, the Daily Mirror especially, with the paper claiming the band were planning on splitting up for good. However, a statement issued to Xfm from Coldplay’s record label Parlophone has completely denied the story. It reads:

"Coldplay are not quitting. They are on the road until July, when their 16 month X&Y World Tour ends in Japan. They will then continue working on new material."

coldplay is probably more annoying to me than maroon 5. theyre a really terrible sounding band, in my opinion...the music is thin and transparent, and theres no body in the main guy's voice. overall the songs are overproduced pop-melodies, with weak guitar and no bottom end. end of story.

I kinda like Coldplay as long as I don't have to listen to more than one song in a row. When you do listen to more than one you get hammered over the head by the realization they are a one trick pony - start the song real slow, build gradually to a mid-tempo climax, roll out some overly-earnest high-pitched vocals, repeat ad-nauseum...

Coldplay's album a rush of blood to the head was great album, but i not as fond as them as I once was. Chris Martin barley ever plays piano in thier live prformances anymore. Thier just too comercial now that they got so much attention for a rush of blood to the head.

Coldplay's alright. I think they should focus on being a pop/rock group, with soft rock and piano based songs...liked U2, that's what they're best at. I always thought many of their songs go on too long or are too repetitive.

Coldplay's music sucks- it's unoriginal, pretentious and cliche and Chris's vocals make me want to hurt myself. you know it get's really anoying to hear all these people that dont even hardly listen to the music obviously get on here and make a bunch of comments bashing bands that they have no appreciation for. some of you are saying that they are unoriginal... oh really how? they use a guitar that the edge from u2 basically invented back in the early 80's. so it hasn't been around for all that long, and they dont even sound like u2! from song structure to lyrics to the lead singers' voices. you dont usually here bono sit down and play piano. and maybe i'm being a little steriotypical but im willing to bet most of the people on this site who dont like them are into bands like slayer, mudvayne, etc... who's songs are very cliche, with the same tempo in almost every song, the albums and songs are the same gimmick...hate, destroy, kill etc... you prob. all think that music types such as classical music is crap as well? well i got news for you those musicains from your little beloved bands are a mere whimper compared to those musicains! what do coldplay have to do with classical, well at least there songs have depth to them. each part of the song is arranged to perfection. their chord progressions are unique from any other band out there. coldplay are brilliant musicains, and chris martin is a brilliant song writer/arranger and front man. and i have seen them in concert and yes they do put on an amazeing live act as well, leaving the viewer with more of an experience than just a headache!!

a rush of blood to the head was a great album, all of the songs on it were primo songs and the album never bored me.

now for x&y, that one sucked big time. imo, coldplay should've quit when they were on top.

Hell yeh man you know what you're talking about. And even if you're not a Coldplay fan here, I'm sure you'd agree that it's much better to hear musicians on the radio than Hip-Hop/Pop uh.....performance people (was gonna say "artist", but that's definitely no the right word).

Good point you just made you`ve hit it right on the head.But I suppose with the guitar bands(except shitty keane)in this decade,as in the 90`s,sounds much more real than the "placky" electronic sounds of the 80`s.
