To illustrate her point during a budget debate in the House of Representatives, Congresswoman Donna Edwards quoted from a White Stripes song.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Edwards ended her speech about cuts saying: "If you're heading to the grave, you don't blame the hearse", a line from Jack and MegWhite's 2007 song "Effect And Cause".
She added: "You seem to forget just how this song started. You just can't take the effect and make it the cause."
The threatened government shutdown was avoided when politicians from both parties compromised on a budget for this year.
Jack White's record label, Third Man Records, has just issued a special package of a White Stripes vinyl LP, "Live In Mississippi", a 7'' record featuring several early White Stripes tracks and an "Under Moorhead Lights All Fargo Night" live DVD recorded at Ralph's Corner Bar in Moorhead, Minnesota in 2000.

Thanks for the report to Andrew Vaughan, Gibson.com.
Can Politicians get anymore desperate? What do you expect from Donna Edwards, though? Just the spew of nonsense. I do like me some White Stripes, though...

Why do I have the feeling if it was a Republican quoting Ted Nugent you'd consider it badass? Forgive me my inferences but as soon as I saw the headline I knew there'd be pissing and moaning.
