Courtney Love is challenging her eviction notice after being accused of damaging property and owing more than $50,000 in rent.
Her landlord Donna Lyon said Love's decorative changes to the apartment was "tantamount to destroying a work of art", but Love's lawyers are asking for the matter to be dropped since the Hole front woman has caught up on her rent.
"
The landlord had improperly sought three months' rent at one time – including for the month of January," her lawyer told reporters. "
She paid the rent due November 15th, and again on December 15th, and she will pay again on January 15th." She pays $27,000 per month to live in the property.
Lyon still wants the musician to move out, and says Love violated the terms of her lease when she took the decoration into her own hands.
"[The house] was decorated by the previous owner, interior designer Steven Gambrel. One of the requirements of the lease is that nothing should be done to the interiors," explained Lyon. "I came to New York to see it and I was horrified by what she had done. The walls that had been hand-painted and glazed were ruined, covered in damask wallpaper and ice-blue paint."
Love took it upon herself to write a post online to explain her side of the story on Xo Jane: "I moved into this home only on the condition that I could paint it and when I leave, I'd restore it to exactly what it was," Love said. "Donna Lyon, the owner, came over the other day and, after informing me that 'No one likes you, Courtney Love, NO ONE,' which made me cry. She proceeded to knock over a photo."
What??? Someone lock this psycho up!
