Dave Grohl Responds To His 'Open Letter' To Metallica

Foo Fighters' front man Dave Grohl has responded to an alleged 'open letter' to Metallica which has been pasted all over the net in recent weeks.

The rock legend responded to the 'letter'- in which he told Lars Ulrich and co to make sure their new album is 'kick-ass'- in the Foos' official blog on May 12th.

"[I] Just wanted to write a quick note to clear up this whole 'Open letter to Metallica' fiasco," said Grohl.

"For the record, I never 'wrote' anything to Metallica. I was asked by a journalist, at the end of a long interview (about the Foo Fighters) to give a quick message to Metallica in the studio.

"So, I rattled that quote off the top of my head. No biggie, right? Somehow it became my 'open letter' to the band...

"Now, it's true that I've been a loyal fan of this band for 25 years, and I can't wait to hear the new shit, but an "open letter" to the band?!!?? Nah. Not my style. I'd rather just text 'em......"

Heh, that shows those guys who were commenting the last article who claimed he'd done that just to advertise and promote the album. As far as I know, Dave isn't a sell-out.

As for the "I'd rather just text 'em," I wonder if someone's gonna swipe his phone to find their phone numbers? XD
