The UK's biggest rapper Dizzee Rascal has made a call for Dave Grohl to help produce his next record.
Dizzee became famous after producing parts of his first album on a PlayStation 2 in 2003, and became the face of what was then a new genre called "grime", an offshoot of UK rap.
"I'd love to have [Grohl] in the studio just to see how he views things. I've done rock with the Arctic Monkeys and it was just second nature," he told the NME. "I'd love for Dave to produce a track, or just get his perspective and get some of the sh-t he knows."
Dave Grohl is yet to respond, but the rapper also shared his interest in recruiting hip-hop regulars
Kanye West and
Andre 3000 on his next album, which is planned for release in 2012.
Dizzee also confirmed that the record label he owns, Dirtee Stank, has signed a multi-layered deal with Island Records which is part of Universal Music to expand his global operations. Dizzee previously found fame on XL Records, home to Adele, Radiohead and MIA.
Universal have been snapping up competing music businesses, having recently concluded a deal to purchase EMI Records for £1.2 billion. It gives them ownership of recordings by the likes of Coldplay and The Beatles.
